15 roster spot limit Under Contract 1.) Lowry 2.) Dragic 3.) Flynn 4.) Martin 5.) Lee 6.) Williams 7.) Morris 8.) Budinger 9.) Parsons 10.) Scola 11.) Patterson 12.) Hill 13.) D-Mo 14.) Thabeet Free Agent 15.) Hayes 16.) Yao Someone on this list will not be a Rocket on opening day. Clearly, a two for one trade, a give-away, or either Hayes or Yao will not be returning. The two for one Bedrins trade, the heavy shopping of Flynn, and the rumored Bulls deal for Asik make more sense.
I would not have guessed last week that the Rockets would be comfortable with having 3 rookies on the opening day roster but it's looking that they have just that unless they assign Parsons to play in Europe. I think Hill is gone and possibly Lee.
There has been no annoucement about contract signings for the rookies, yet. I could see Donatas staying in Europe for an extra year, if the labor situation isn't cleared up by the middle of July. I am not sure that Parsons will stay in the USA or be in Europe also. I think he is a longshot to make the team.
I basically pretty much said the same thing in the Marcus Cousins thread that there isn't enough room, he won't make it, there's too many players on the team. Same can be said for Blakely. I'd be surprised if one of them somehow makes the team.
Assuming both Chuck & Yao resign and Morey can't swing a 2-for-1, Parsons is clearly the odd man out.
Wouldn't care if he was odd man out but Les forked up the money to get our 2nd pick back, so I doubt he'll be gone unless a trade happens of course.
oops Sorry can't edit/delete my last post. Ya, after the loss to NO at the end of last season/being knocked out of the playoffs I was so depressed that I stop visiting clutchfans/paying attention to the Rockets for about a month.
Now I see why Morey wanted Flynn. The thought of losing a 2009 draft bust (Carrol) must have been too much for him. LOL the third string of every position on our team (except SF) is a 2009 Draft first round bust. We just need Earl Clark from Orlando and we're set.
my guess is either tebeet, hill or parson but also maybe flynn....but i like flynn's game...i wanna see parson play first..
I hope we'll bring Chuck back. just remember the games, when he was out, we struggled even more, didn't win a single game without him. (ok, maybe my memory wandering me). I guess we'll trade Hill, Thabeet, Flynn/Dragic perhaps Scola or Bud.
I understand that this is a thread about which of the current Rockets will remain on the list....however....I will expand that concept to include who else should be added to the roster to make a championship team...and...that being I am probably the only person in Houston that would like to see the Rockets to eventually (either this year or in the next year or two) add Joey Dorsey. I see potential value there. That being the end man on the bench..and..at the minimum salary possible (when he has been released and nobody else wants him) to be our "rought guy"...our "thug" on the beach to come in and dish out some punishment when things on the floor are out of control and the other team has started the rough play and are perhaps beating up on some of our team members. So...ya....eventually add Joey Dorsey and let him play the "muscle" game. Ya...I contend every championship team needs one of these type of guys. I think Joey would enjoy that role vs washing cars.
Courtney Lee, Chase Budinger, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and Jordan Hill are the most likely candidates to be gone by the time the season start, this guys are also the ones who's names have been out there the most in terms of trade talks.
1) Maximum roster = 15 2) Up to 2 players can be assigned to D-league but they count towards the 15 maximum. 3) Minimum roster = 12 (or 13?) 4) Up to 2 players on inactive list (need not be injured) 5) D-leaguers can be moved back and forth to big league roster maximum of 3 times during the season. 6) D-league season starts later than NBA and ends earlier which impacts player movement between rosters. My bad I Was Wrong
