Interesting. One of the assistants over there is Melvin Hunt, who interviewed for Houston's job. I wonder if he was the guy who (according to one report) wouldn't consider the Houston offer because he thinks Finch is the golden boy.

    and....

I'm not so sure his contract would have been renewed anyway. Between this and the way the Nuggets folded against the Jazz last year, Dantley might have a hard time finding a head coaching gig any time soon.

Well that's a stupid reason. I was thinking he sat in front and didn't want to go to the back, but it seems like he sat in the back and didn't want to go in front?

LOL IMHO Karl just gave him the "survivor" treatment, basically he probably thought this dude was the biggest threat and eliminated him.

I don't believe it's because of a silly chair rotation.

The man probably just sucked at "assisting"

So assistant coaches think that being on TV for a few seconds closeup makes a difference in getting a head coaching job. Yikes. Maybe scouting isn't as sophisticated as we thought?

I don't know if he's a good choach a not, but Dantley's game was pretty similar to Marcus Morris. Much better of course, but similar nonetheless. Maybe he'd be a good 'mentor'.

Dantley is said to be a bit of a weird dude though. IIRC he never ever in his life went out to party. Not even in high school or college. He's said to go to bed the same time every day, get up at the same time every day.
Not that there's something wrong with that. He's a man of routine, hard work and discipline.

It was weird because I always thought Dantley was kickin' it in the front seat and more passively sittin' in the back seat. At some point a coach must decide which seat can he take.

(NOTE: George Karl was not sitting on his right)

At least George had a choice in the matter.

I didn't realize Dantley played 25 years in the league and retired just a decade ago? I assume they meant 91. I don't remember him in the 90's but didn't start following til 91.

I thought that seemed weird, too. He retired after the 1991 season.
