that's how I see it and there are people complaining about his contract and health issues when were at a point when we do not need to worry about that stuff. People say it's too risky when I can think of the Dallas mavericks as a perfect example. They needed a center, got brendan Haywood for a large contract(who is a decent enough backup) and Tyson with the health issue. If beidrins pans out then it's a win and if not no big deal in my opinion
I believe that to be inaccurate and a mis-representation of the facts. Daryl Morey would not accept the Amare Stoudimire trade during the 2010 trade deadline because there was no time for Amare to do a physical before the dead line expired and he would not do the deal with out a physical. he was not willing to risk trading Scola on injured goods. The Chandler trade happened in the off season and scenario involving the Rockets was a 3 team deal and one of the other teams backed out, not DM. I don't recall a physical having anything to do with that trade.
In Europe, Motiejunas was considered a softer power forward than David Andersen. Morey tried to use David Andersen (considered soft as a power forward in Europe) as a center already. Motiejunas is considered softer than Andersen in Europe, and like Andersen played power forward in Europe, not center. And yes, I watch a lot of NBA games and I know fully well how much the NBA center position sucks.
Regardless of that, it's already been said that he'll play some at the 5, and people can bulk up/get tougher, might surprise you that, but we have these things called "gyms" and "coaches." Maybe they don't have them where you live?...
We'll wait and see wont we. My bet is on him seeing some minutes at the 5, because they've already said he will. I reckon I'm on pretty good odds of being right.
Well good thing that Motiejunas is only 20yrs old and can remove that label, through developing here in the US under the careful watch of Kevin McHale. Who seems to really like him and thinks he can eventually grow into the position at the 5. As oppose to Andersen who spent most of his career overseas, and didn't come over until he was 29 yrs old and was already what he was, a soft euro. Look nobody is expecting Motie to light the world on fire here in the US in his "rookie year". We know that at 20yrs old Motie is not a finished product. What people look forward to though is him growing into the position and developing. So chill and just watch him develop as a Houston Rocket.
Center to be named, Yao, Hayes Scola Patterson Hill Morris Budinger Parsons Morris Williams Martin Lee Lowry Dragic
I just had this lineup go against the mavs, and man the fast breaks was great but the mavs beat me by 10. Nba 2k10 pc. DeAndre Joran/Omar Azik/C.Hayes Luis Scola/P.pat/C.Hayes C.Bud/M.Morris/L.Kleiza(INActive) K.Martin/Dragon/Parson(Inactive) Kyle Lowry/Jonny Flynn So this is my little lineup, looks fast looks good defensively.
DeAndre Joran/Omar Azik/C.Hayes Luis Scola/P.pat/D-mo C.Bud/M.Morris/L.Kleiza(INActive) K.Martin/Dragon/Parson(Inactive) Kyle Lowry/Jonny Flynn 14 players..
PG - Lowry, Dragic, Flynn SG - Martin, Lee, Williams SF - Buddinger, Morris, Parsons PF - Scola, Patterson C/F - Hayes, Motiejunas, Ming, Thabeet I would like to see Motie as the starting center. He's left handed but has a nice bank hook with his right hand, something I'm sure he'll use to dump in points over Chuck Hayes during practice. Then he can jack threes and drive by Thabeet or Ming from the perimeter. I'm looking for some good things out of Patterson defensivly - he just needs to work on his post moves. Bud, Morris, Patterson and Motie need to get in the lab with Scola for post scoring 101. Everyone in the NBA should have a hook shot, no matter what position they play. Motie appears to have the most post skills out of our youngsters.
Here goes: Dalembert/Hayes/Thabeet Patterson/Motiejunas/Songalia Iggy/Morris/Parsons Martin/Lee/Williams Lowry/Dragic/Flynn??
Lowry - Dragic - Flynn Martin - Lee - Williams Morris - Budinger - Parsons Scola - Patterson - Hill Hayes - D-mo - Thabeet My god, 4 our third stringers are top ten picks. We need a serious consolodation of talent.
C - Hayes, Thabeet (D-League), FA or possibly Yao if the Drs think it's possible but stays mostly on the inactive list. PF - Scola, Patterson, Hill SF - Budinger, Morris, Parsons (Inactive) SG - Martin, Lee, Williams PG - Lowry, Dragic, Flynn Motiejunas - not signed i.e. - It is what it is. But what I'd like to see would be: C - Asik, Hayes, Motiejunas, Thabeet (D) PF - Patterson, Hill SF - Josh Smith, Morris, Parsons (I) SG - Martin, best SG FA we can sign, Williams PG - Lowry, Flynn Not a contender but heading the right direction
Dalembert (FA)/Yao/Dontas Scola/Pat/Hayes Morris/Bud/Parsons Martin/Lee/TWill Lowry/Dragic/Flynn Somehow we ship off Hill and Thabeet for a pick...
I'm baffled that you guys could put scola AND PatPat ahead of Hayes on the depth chart at the 4. He is better than both of them. Your 5 best scoters don't necessarily constitute your best starting 5. Who plays D in the post? Who scores on the second unit?
