Motiejunas seems to be ALOT like Jan Vesely except with a shot. I know Vesely is far more athletic, but he plays kind of like him

I was thinking the opposite. Motiejunas is more offensive minded with some defensive liabilities while Vesely is all defense and athleticism

All defense? I have not watched any video of him this season, but he couldn't change directions last year. Good help defender, but can't guard his man unless he gets a steal.

not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but it's in respect to the reason we received a 2nd round pick next year:

"The Minnesota Timberwolves’ complications in the NBA draft never seem to end.

After the Timberwolves agreed to send guard Jonny Flynn(notes) in a package to the Houston Rockets for Brad Miller(notes) and the 23rd pick on Thursday, the trade hit a snag on Friday when the Rockets’ team doctors raised issues with Flynn’s hip injury, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

To keep the deal from falling apart, Minnesota sent a 2012 second-round pick to the Rockets, league sources said. The issues wouldn’t have kept Flynn off the court, but did raise some concerns for the long-term. Whether Minnesota had been forthcoming with the information prior to the trade is unclear."

Morey signed him as the GM, it's his guy. One of the disconnects was Adelman wanting more input in personnel decisions. He had wanted a center all season which the front office didn't give him.

It looks like Rick Adelman voted no in the poll 245 times!

Lakers only hired Mike Brown over Rick Adelman so that they wouldn't be forced to take on Brad Miller, Rick's love child!

I'm so glad that Bra Miller is gone.

LOL, so the Rockets "pretend to be worried about the injury", force Minny's hand and squeeze a 2nd round pick out of them?

The best part about the Rockets making a stink over post-surgery injury concerns is that Brad Miller JUST HAD MICROFRACTURE SURGERY.

    Stop it.

Daryl signed Brad Miller for Adelman. Plain and simple.

Do you think all of Morey's stastical analysis pointed to Brad Miller being the solution

Brad Miller was signed by Morey who was not forced to do so by Adelman who could be unemployed anytime.

Brad Miller was brought in as a backup center, not as any savior. Yao was ahead of him, and we came damn close to bringing in Dampier to push Miller to 3rd string. IIRC, the reason we didn't take Dampier was that Hill was showing flashes.

The only thing wrong with Miller was that we paid a little too much. Or so it seems. I think the market for centers is such that we really only paid market value for Miller.

Of course Rick could not force him to do anything. He could make a strong recommendation, which he likely did. Rick likely convinced Morey and Morey went to Le$ to get approval.

This was Rick's guy. Unless Morey was seriously acting out of character.

If this dude was projected to go so high last year or this year then why did he fall all the way to #20, in a weak draft? What happened?

    A year happened.

You see, when a player is first found, the scouts see upside. They see potential. They see someone fresh who could be a superstar.

    Wait a year or two...

The scouts have analyze the player to death. He's either too cocky or not confident enough. He relies too much on power or is too much of a finnesse player. He's a ballhogger or that he's too timid to demand the ball. He's a soft big who likes to shoot 3s or he doesn't have the range to help spread the floor.

You see, every fresh young player look nice because you only see them in an optimstic view. But gather enough data, and every prospect begins to seem like they have gazillion red flags.

Montiejunas didn't change. The scouts simply got to analyze him for an extra year.
