So who would you compare his game to?

I see a lot of similarities in their skill sets and the way they play the game.

Does that mean I think he is as talented as Robinson, or I expect him to put up GR numbers right away? No, but that's not the point of the comparison.

At his absolute peak, I can see Morris putting up Glenn Robinson-esqe numbers.

Maurice Taylor wishes he had the College career, stats, body, motivation, and skills Marcus Morris has. The guy never averaged more than 14 points a game in his College career and 12 points for his average. Not to mention he has no motor and is a fat and slow plodder.

My expectations for Marcus Morris this year is that he starts the season in the primary rotation and is the starting small forward by January. And I think he becomes a part of our core as the season progresses along with Lowry and Martin as Scola is traded away by midseason. By the end of the season, I think he will be alpha dog #2 alongside Lowry, leading this team. He's a leader. I suspect him and Lowry are going to get super tight.

I can agree with this and that's pretty accurate. I think he will be a good basketball player. Will he be as good as say danny granger? Don't know, but I can kinda see that. Granger was a pf in college also. I remember him abusing a guy lke warrick off the dribble even though warrick was a better athlete. I hope he does turn out to be what people think. I guess my only beef is minny had 2 guys ( beasley and randolph) who are in the same boat. I would've loved to have randolph as a big 3 like josh smith or ak- 47 or maybe take the usc center at 14 and then make the trade for montejunas and pry either beasley or randolph away. In any case, as with everything else, time will tell.

Have seen Morris play probably 30 games in college, and a bit in all star games, etc. I am in the minority that believe that he will have no problems playing small forward on the defensive end, especially with the zone. He is not a rocket scientist, but plays hard, listens to coaching and has a decent aptitude for the game.

I am in the minority more concerned with how his game will translate on offense. I would like to see his handle improve some, as he is a good, but not great athlete.

The best comparison I have heard is Danny Granger (but more coachable). He is a similar athlete to Glen Robinson, but not the shooter (but more motivated).

His upside is a slightly better defender, teammate, slightly less scoring version of Granger.

His downside is that he can't play the 3 and becomes Terrence Morris.

Morey said he will not make him play the 3 at this point.... but I expect he will eventually be a 3.

Marcus' turnaround jumper looks fluid. Not many players can do that

His game is scarily similar to Paul Pierce. He just needs to work on his speed, maybe slim down a bit, and he'll be fine as a 3.

What I like most about MM is although he plays tough, he also plays smart, kinda' like Lowry. You can see in the video that he understands plays well enough to envision how other people are going to act, its not like he just "goes with the flow" or acts upon instinct, he assesses the situation then takes the best action, something which will make him a natural fit for our offense. I haven't heard about MM not playing at the 3 right away, if so that would be a shame because to me the sooner he plays the 3 the sooner he will adjust, and if he plays the 4 he'll get 0 PT behind PP and Scola. I'm probably thinking the cool-aid at this point but IMHO he'll be a ROY contender if he gets consistent minutes at the 3 from the start.

Didn't Battier score 20ppg in college and was player of the year? I hope CX is right, but him being drafted 14 doesn't seem to warrant the enthusiasm.

You should read up on what I said about him before the draft. The enthusiasm has nothing to do with being drafted at 14, or the fact that he was drafted by us. And certainly nothing to do with his PPG in college.

My point was that he did not dominate at the college level, so what makes you believe he will be the new "Franchise" player?

Don't get me wrong, I hope you are right, but from the games I watched he seemed like a good player, but not one that was going to be dominate.

His game reminds me so much like Corliss Williamson and Al Harrington. I think he will be a border line all star one day.

I kind of get what you are saying here DD, but you have to remember that he was playing out of position the entire time in college. His natural position is the 3, not the 4. He was asked (and agreed to) to shoulder the responsibility of a 4. I think that shows that in addition to a hard nosed scorer, he is a great team player as well, willing to take on a completely different position and learn the ways of the post, something he has obviously excelled at. Like others, I am a bit concerned about his slower first step as he is not going to be able to blow by guys like LBJ, Wallace, or Battier. Then again, he could always take it inside and try to shake them with his post moves. Defensively, I am not concerned. Despite not having a quick first step, he seems to have remarkable lateral quickness. Either way, ANYTHING is better than Budinger's complete lack of D last season.
