As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else.

6-24 James Shields, RHP (7-4, 2.40) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (5-3, 2.88) 7:05 on FSH

6-25 Wade Davis, RHP (6-5, 4.57) vs. Bud Norris, RHP (4-5, 3.26) 6:05 on FSH

    6-26 Jeff Niemann, RHP (2-4, 4.82) vs. J.A. Happ, LHP (3-9, 5.33) 1:05 on FSH

Awesome matchup tonight and good tomorrow...not so great Sunday.

The Jesus Montero sweepstakes continues tonight. The better Wandy pitches, the more value we can ask in return when the Yanks come calling.

If Wandy shuts them down tonight, I guarantee Cashman will be calling Ed Wade immediately after the game.

I never saw the play where Pence got injured. Can somebody who saw it describe it to me or link me to a vid?

    Thanks in advance.

Zobrist has a very good eye and a terrific plate approach. He's had two outstanding PAs so far tonight. The first was with 2 outs and kicked off the 4 run barrage.

So what will this team's record be after an NBA season's worth of games? I'll say 29-53.

Shields completely having his way with our lineup.

Don't the Rays have another stud SP in their system? I think I saw something the other day about a pitching prospect of their's who has led various levels of the minors in Ks and just threw a CG 2 or 3 hitter. If he turns out to be legit, Price/Hellickson/Shields + him is gonna be a pretty filthy rotation for several years. Even if they just stick with 3 of those 4, they're gonna be nasty. The backend of their rotation will likely be one of the best as well.

The guy's name is Matt Moore. Last year, he was the first minor leaguer to record 200 Ks in about 5-6 years. This year, he's 4-3 with a 2.43 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings with Tampa's Double-A team, the Montgomery Biscuits.

Thanks, it's pretty cool to see teams that draft and develop successfully.

Truth be told, Wandy pitched well tonight but the 4 batters in the third and the pass ball/wild pitch in the fifth killed him against a guy that is on another level right now.

Scouts were probably fine with his preformance and the crappy catching situation probably isn't the best for Wandy right now, either.

No way! You are giving this team too much credit. You can't really translate winning percentage in baseball because anything can happen pretty much any game. I'd say a 100 loss team in baseball equals an 17-19 win team in the NBA. So I'd guess an 18-64 record for the 2011 Astros.

So that would be, what, 63-99?

There's an old saying in baseball that goes: "You're going to win 60 games, you're going to lose 60 games, but the other 42 decide your season." Its something close to that. So basically, the stros are going to win <10% of those deciding games.
