I hear you, and I def. think Flynn can be a solid backup PG in this league, but he will never be Ridnour. They are vastly different players. I really don't ever see Flynn being a "true" point, which Ridnour is. As someone else pointed out, he doesn't make the best decisions, and is more of a penitrator and scoring guard than a guy who runs the floor and gets other players involved. He doen't have the court vision good point guards have, but he has the quickness and athleticism to play good defense, and to beat someone to the hole off the dribble. What he gives us is a young, talented player, who can contribute in a limited role, and who's contract expires right as Paul, Howard, and Derron Williams become unrestricted free agents. He also gives us some flexibility in case we get a good offer for Dragic (who i imagine is appealing to a lot of teams).

You don't need to score 20ppg to be a good player in this league.
Also Flynn was a solid rookie and then he got hurt. Injuries happen.

Damn what's with all the hating with this guy? He had a solid rookie season and averaged 13 and 5. He was injured his second season so that explains the drop off his second yr. Twolves traded him because they have a phenom PG in Rubio and a vet backing him up in Ridhour.

Read my sig, dammit. I've watched this guy for most of last season ( and it seems RTM has too), unlike people who are going off his rookie season. He wasn't that great either his rookie year, but this year, he was barely qualified to be in the league. Like I said - take Aaron's godawful season he had last year. Flynn's was even worse than that.

I don't mind him being here. Just don't expect anything from him, and I definitely will lose it if we see "free Flynn" here next season. I don't even think the Rockets really wanted him as it is - he just came with Donatas.

Some of you idiots clearly have never seen a healthy Jonny Flynn play. Lack of handles? Court vision? LOL. The fact of the matter is; he's the most talented(not the best) PG on our roster. Jonny Flynn has good court vision, but like T-Will sometimes he jacks up dumb shots..but he's young, coachable, and will learn if given the opportunity. He's better than AB in every facet of the game except that his jumpsuit is streaky. How quickly we forget as a rookie he averaged 15 and 5. I'm willing to vet if given the opportunity he'll take Dragic's spot. Additionally, he has a higher upside than Kyle Lowry and if given the proper opportunity, he can start somewhere.

Cue the OHMSS post to talk about how Llull is no good. Or at the very least, that he is not a PG.

so you have spoken to morey and mchale and the crew and they told you they accepted flynn on a "heck why not standpoint"? that is what your saying? because your speaking pretty matter of factly there. just quit. you sound ignorant.

second, if lull was any good he'd be here. much less better than flynn.

Flynn will be a good player. I sense he wanted out of Minnesota and sucked for a reason to add with his injury. A change of scenery is what he needed. To go with all the young guys, and see how they work in practice under McHale leading them i think he'll be good enough for what they wanted.

It is a win win situation whether we keep Johnny Flynn or trade him. Flynn could be very useful to the Rockets in either department. dude would be a sick backup to Lowry. you can also play small ball that can be very effective playing both flynn and dragic in the backcourt together. alot of people dont mention too much that dragic can play the two also, and he used to play sg alot with nash when j rich needed a rest. a bench of flynn dragic courtney lee and t-will are plenty offensive weapons in the rocket's arsenal.

After watching him in Jason F's video interview, I'm rooting for him. Hope his hip's as good as his attitude, and hope his attitude will stay upbeat no matter his PT-- whether he puts together an All-Star year, or an unbroken chain of DNP-CDs.

Isn't that what the Grizzlies did with Lowry to the Rockets also? :D Lowry has turned into a starter.
They are the worst team for a reason and it's not for smart trades. They also traded away Garnett.

young backup point guard on a bad team, had decent rookie season but was hampered by a injury plauged 2/3rd year, and was evntually rescued by the rockets - sounds familliar?

The rockets have had proven sucess with small, quick point guards (AB, lowry) and i am sure he will give Dragic a helluva fight for his minutes.

From the little I know about Lowry's time in Memphis, my viewpoint is that they liked him, but wanted to deal with Conley instead and chose him instead of Lowry.

This is different, because Flynn has had plenty of chances. And it's been a total disaster, and will not work.

My conclusions are based off the fact that I trust Morey's judgment, and I can't believe Morey would actually come to the conclusion that Flynn has any shot of being a starting PG. So this is what I think. That's all.

I'm frankly fairly frustrated that we're having people who are going to get all hyped about this guy, and will get disappointed, especially since I'm pretty sure I've watched more of the guy than most of the people posting here. That's all there is to it, and I'm trying to temper expectations. There really should not be any. If he beats out Dragic, I'll be surprised. If he ever becomes even close to Lowry, I'll be shocked.
