They traded for him because he's better than whoever they picked up at 26.

The chances of getting a rotation player for a championship team from the late first round are so slim that they automatically get an A on this draft.

    Advanced Stats:

    JJ Barea (FA)
    D Stevenson (FA)
    C Butler (FA)

+ CBA threatening to impact teams' ability to resign FAs

= R Fernandez under low dollar contract for 2 more seasons.

At the very least, it's leverage. Worst case scenario, it's insurance.

Kopenen has some skills too....the Mavs won without a true SG, and now they got one in Fernandez....dang they have a shot at repeating.

I thin Rudy Fernandez is somewhat racist and hates the amount of competition in the NBA. I'm glad he's not on our team.

If their center remains healthy and they keep Butler IMHO Rudy suddenly makes them the best team in the L. A legit sg is all they really needed last season, a starting lineup of:

    Chandler
    Dirk
    Butler
    Fernandez
    Kidd

has everything you'd want: starpower, defense, rebounding perimeter shooting and on court savvy. Wow

Not to mention the people coming off the bench.

    Haywood
    Marion
    Stevenson
    Terry
    Barea.

    Dallas is way deep.
