Well, there's another option to get a championship... 1. Get good players 2. Tell them to suck and intentionally fail BAM! Bad season, with good players, and a high pick Okay, i know, who in the he!! would do that...
You dont dothat without taking chances Morey. Just wont. Traded everything you possibly could have to get the most available possible Superstar in Derrick Williams might be one of your last chances. Paul and Dwight are very remote chances at best. I do not know where you will get this guy. So your best option is to build the Detroit Pistons team filled with talent from top to bottom.
Actually, he said it's never been done before because he knows he's a pro GM and one of the few who can actually do it. Let's not overthink this.
Detroit built a championship team without tanking. The only time they did get a high draft pick they screwed it up. So it is possible to build a team without high draft picks.
Great observation, I see now that having a GM that selects good players in the draft is what is holding us back. Also, having a good coach like Adelman was just adding to our problems. We got rid of Adelman and replaced him with McHale, so that problem is solved. But now Les needs to replace Morey with someone who is completely incompetent. I wonder if Isiah Thomas is available?
I like the draft and the players are decent. They are all like Patrick Patterson/ Budinger/Brooks types. Thats just it. They are all like Landry/Montajunas/Morris around that area or level of play types. I like them and they are good though. Just decent.
Are you actually saying that Patterson and Budinger are alike in some way, lol? Patterson is a future all-star while Budinger shouldnt even be a starter on a mediocre team. What exactly are you saying here? (hint: you're not saying anything)
Possible, not probable. Detroit is often the team pointed to by teams without true franchise players but let's be clear here - they are a very rare exception....so rare I can't even remember the last team like them. Let's also remember that the Lakers "team" Detroit beat was literally crumbling as they played them. Shaq and Kobe were battling each other for "who's the man?" status during the playoffs and the vets filling out the team(Karl Malone, Gary Payton) weren't helping matters(Kobe was fueding with Malone too)
Do not worry about it then if your gonna berate my comment a little next time. Some of you have a problem of shooting your mouths off to me when its just an observation.
How about this? If your gonna make aberating comment to me next time on this site or rude? Just shut your traps. How about that?
That's a pretty empty statement too, considering the competition at the 4 in the league and the possibility that Montejunas was probably drafted to be the future starter.
Hey let's enjoy the journey of trying to be the first team to rebuild without totally sucking. I remember a year ago that Morey said that the NBA rewards team for being really bad. What I found irksome was Van Gundy who played vets in the last few meaningless games of a season to destroy our draft chances was criticizing teams yesterday who settle for mediocrity. I think that we do need to trade Scola as the guy is such a warrior that he will keep fighting to the end like he does with undermanned Argentine national teams against the US for example.
C'mon Morey and Les, next year's draft is projected to be the deepest class (filled with many potential franchise-type players) since Lebron/Wade/Melo/Bosh's class, just suck next year. It could be a lockout, so it isn't too long of a season right?
Start Marcus Morris at Small forward and Patrick Patterson at Powerforward and build your assets if thats your goal at least Morey. Give them the startng spots. Build that value.
I would consider missing the playoffs every year sucking. I would much rather see a bunch of young guys with potential play wild and lose a lot than continue what we've been doing. At least there would be some excitement.
