If I saw this on a sitcom, I'd think it was way too hack-ish, but it's pretty hilarious in real life. Obviously the anti-gay stuff I don't agree with; I just think the reaction at the end of the video is priceless. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Gfe36WiFA80" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I was going to post this yesterday but forgot. He really bags on Houston so I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up earlier. I don't know how widespread this guy's views are but I've known a couple of airline pilots who pretty much had the same attitude about flight attendants as this guy.
As somebody who has training and is on the wait list to get a job with air traffic control, I can promise you this kind of crap is the last thing in the world you want to be hearing from their standpoint. Mind you, while this idiot pilot is unknowingly transmitting all this he's locking up that channel for every other plane on the same frequency. No other pilots could transmit anything while this idiot was busy being a homophobe and misogynist. Fire him.
Good luck man. Thought it was an Interesting job ever since I watched Pushing Tin; I hope you get it.
If you listen again carefully what you heard is ATC attempting to interrupt the pilot's rant a couple times. At about the two-minute mark was the "Oh f***" moment for the pilot after which he shut up. That's whenever normal communications resumed. After the rant ended several other pilots in the area on the same frequency chimed in to let ATC know it wasn't them.
Thanks, much appreciated. Like anything involving the government getting a job with ATC is a long and drawn out process. Pushing Tin is a good movie. Just rest assured in real life it isn't a job where you try to be bad ass or make your own rules. "Now give me back my f-ing feather!"
http://youtu.be/2-gewcWPG_c Anderson [spelling?] Cooper's "RidicuList" response. I LOL'd. So we're past the whole rant... and we know it's wrong for him to say all this... so who was at fault for leaving the mic open or recording the entire conversation or not going over to tell the pilot "It's on, you dummy! Shut your trap or turn it off!" And to whom is he speaking, the copilot?
Short version: Southwest only hires "gays, grannies, and grandes" as flight attendants. And there are a few he would do but wouldn't tell anybody about it.
