The Spurs are "enamored" with Lithuanian PF Donatas Motiejunas, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Spurs are reportedly being very aggressive in trying to get into the teens so they can take Motiejunas. We know about their impressive draft record, so this should raise some eyebrows on the 7-footer. Motiejunas is unlikely to last past the first 17 picks tonight. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_nba_draft_cavaliers_irving_062311 Take that San Antonio!
Honestly that's the only thing I like about this kid, that the Spurs wanted him. Plays ZERO defense, soft as hell.
That may or may not be true. But we passed on Leonard who was traded to SA. And that is a FACT. Just saying...
I'm guessing they originally wanted to trade up for Donatas, but when Leonard free-falled all the way to 15, they couldn't pass him up. Still doesn't change the fact that assuming the story is correct, at least SA felt Donatas was worth the 15-17th pick. And that both teams scouted and liked the guy a lot.
We got a 3 that we needed who can score and rebound. Leonard plays defense, which is great, but thats about it.
I think I would have rather traded back to get Leonard... Leonard is a BEAST on the boards and his only objective is to shutdown, Block, and Rebound..Do we have anybody like that? Scoring isn't an issue for us and I would bet if you put Leonard vs Marcus 1on1 Leonard would shut him down... That is just how I feel. I just watched a lot of Youtube videos on Leonard and Marcus and it was Leonard who had a much higher motor and tenacity..
You cant get "owned" when you made the decision for them. Houston made the choice, it's not like the spurs traded up ahead of houston and "stole" Leonard. The spurs were basically fishing for whatever they could get in the lottery. I mean, they were ready to hand the starting spot to Hill and then end up trading him. I bet they would have traded for Morris if they had the chance.
