Except that Dirk became the FIRST Dirk Nowitzki by working his a$$ off. I'm not sure Motiejunas has it in him to do likewise. Let's hope he proves me wrong.

Wonder if McHale chirped in the ear of Morey for Flynn. McHale got fired from Minny before the 2009 draft but I'm sure had heavy input on who to draft for the 6th overall in that draft.

You guys are celebrating like Flynn is a automatic success. We needed SIZE and jus another undersized guard on a team with too many guards. Morey stockpiling players who all play the same position??? Um, how exactly is this a win???

Motiejunas is a left-handed 7-footer with 3-point range. Though his game begins on the perimeter, he is considered a smooth scorer inside, a skill likely to earn much of McHale’s attention as he works to become a more consistent rebounder. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 27.4 minutes in 16 Eurocup games last season.

To move up from the 23rd pick, the Rockets sent that pick, the 38th pick in Thursday’s draft and the future Memphis first-round pick. That selection was lottery protected from 2013 to 2016. It would then convert to a second-round pick.

In the deal, the Rockets sent center Brad Miller to the Timberwolves and will receive point guard Jonny Flynn, the sixth pick of the 2009 NBA draft. Flynn averaged 13.5 points and 4.4 assists as a rookie, but had an injury-filled second season, averaging just 5.3 points and 3.4 assists last season.

Miller struggled with knee and ankle injuries last season and had microfracture knee surgery after the season. He averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in his one season with the Rockets.

Donatas is 7 ft. There weren't any 7'1'+ PFs in the draft to get more size.

Something tells me Flynn will become an x-factor in this system if 1 of the point guards go down with injury.

Did the Rockets pay you to write this nonsense?

Flynn has one more guaranteed year in his contract than Miller. I say Minny wanted him in the deal to dump salary.

Anyone know when/if Donatus Motiejunas is coming to Houston this year or is he staying overseas for a while?

You are seriously underestimating Dirk's natural ability. 7 footers aren't suppose to be as agile as him, has his ball-handling ability, and his shooting ability. If Donatas has Dirk's skills AND his character, he'd be the consensus #1 pick in this draft.

It's only due to Donatas' problems that he dropped. But that's why pick 20 is different from pick 1. You don't have the luxury to be picky. And attitude is at least correctable. Whereas low BBIQ like Thabeet or Hill may be permanent problems.

We didnt need Flynn, point guard wasn't an area of need. Donatas won't be ready for another few years, none of these trades help us. Is this really how the "rebuilding" process should start? By trading for a second string undersized PG and bigman who won't be ready for another 2 years? FAIL

Marcus reminds me of white from unc charlotte a few yrs ago. He's a tweeer, but isn't as explosive as you would like a that spot. If you're going to be a tweener, you need to have something special and he doesn't. The suns didn't hook anyone up by taking his brother. His brother is bigger, but has a position. Its kinda like horace and harvey grant. Harvey was more versitile and more tweener, but horace had a position and was the better player.

Who was the 7 ft+ PF that you wanted him to draft at 23?
