Life long Rockets fan here, also a life long Jayhawk. Was at every KU game this season, and am thrilled with the pick. Very polished post game, with some range too. Can take his man off the dribble or pull up. Most of all, he's a hard worker and a fan favorite. He was often in the gym after midnight shooting, and improved tremendously in his time at Kansas. Dude won, been a leader for Kansas the last two seasons. Give him a chance, I've seen every game he's played at Kansas. You'll be happy.
More polished on offense. -PatPat is basically a jump shooter. -MarcMor has the whole repertoire- particularly turnaround jumpers in the post.
Can you describe his perimeter game? Both offense and defense? The Rockets scouts believe his game is that of a PF in college, but his NBA future lies at SF. So any thoughts on that would help.
Pat's post up game is improving though also according to that game he had against the pistons this past reg season.
the simple skill he possesses of being able to shoot fallaway jumpers from a post up position in the high post region is a very translatable skill in the nba because it allows him to get his shot off anytime. while a simple move, not many players can effectively execute it. only a few players can and those are all the players who we'd consider closers -- kobe, durant, melo, dirk, pierce, etc. if he's able to improve this skill into a high percentage shot, he has the ability to become a closer for this team, which gets me excited.
It is funny how everyone is so high on PPat. The reason why we think he is a budding star is because we had such low expectations for him at the beginning of the season. With a few good games, we think he is the ****. Same thing happened with Jordan Hill two years ago. Look what happened. PPat is a good reserve, but will never be your starting PF
The fact alone that MC Mo was projected to be in the range of 9-15, a sure lottery pick, is good enough for me. Markieff his brother, a better Drew Gooden prospect would be nice as well. Very nice player and obviously underrated here.
Finally a big 3 man with inside outside skills, now only if we could get a healthy Yao back! I would love to see Pat& Mo on the floor together
