Bojan Bogdanovic, Milan Macvan, Robin Benzing, Georgi Shermadini........players like that would be excellent picks.

Buying second round picks would indicate a possible 3 or 4 for 1 deal where we are losing depth to acquire a big name player or draft pick and we need some second rounders to fill out our roster.

I could still see a scenario where he flips the #14, #23, #38 picks into one top half lottery pick or vet player....and wants the high second rounder to draft for value. Could also be trying to purchase the pick in order to package it in a trade he's currently trying to nail down.

There's absolutely no room on the roster for 4 draftees. It will blow my mind if we draft and keep as many as 3.

    1. Morey wants to buy a 2nd round pick IN CASE the Rockets should ship out its first two picks.

    2. If they can't ship out the #14 and #23, there's no point in buying a 2nd Rounder unless there's a player overseas he can stash

    Pretty standard thinking IMO.

Exactly, he could be trying to pick up an other first round pick, but doesn't want the Lux tax hit.

    ;)

Rockets obviously trying to move up.

Buying second round picks = replenishing the roster with low risk/low salary guys that they can stash in the NBDL

The fact they are looking to purchase 2nd round picks indicate a trade is indeed going down tonight.

Chandler Parson!! projected 2nd rounder -- legit 6'10 SF, can play point foward and off the ball. Do it all type of SF... I think he would be a steal in the 2nd round.

    This.

20.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 81% on free throws, good jump shot, athletic, polished, 6'10". Only problem is he's skinny, but you don't get flawless dudes in the second round.

No GM in his right mind will offer 3 years guaranteed money to a Japan D-League backup, so Tyler should be on the board in the early second for the taking.

Whoever drafts Tyler might let him play another two years overseas before signing him. This would be the smart move. Tyler needs to develop his game in a foreign pro league, before getting minutes in the NBA.

How many 2nd rounders are even in the league in 3 years? Most of them don't add up to squat, for every Budinger you get a ton of Joey Dorsey types.

Spending money on 2nd round picks is the longest of long shots.

I can't see the Rockets keeping all three of their picks and buying an early second round pick, thus potentially adding four more players to roster. Some of the four players could be "draft and follow" Euro players, but I would still be surprised if the Rockets have more than two rookies next year on their roster.

Now if the Rockets move up in the draft via packaging their two first picks for a higher first round pick, I could see them wanting to buy an early second round pick, especially if they are targeting a "draft and follow" Euro player.

    Macvan
    Shermadini
    Benzing
    Bogdanovic
    Mirotic
    Mack

Not to mention others like Diot, Rabaseda, Khvostov, Kuzminskas, Jackson, Aguilar..............

The potential second round is absolutely loaded, especially with European players. Some of them like Shermadini, Bogdanovic are far better than most Americans slated for the the first round.

If the Rockets got something like Macvan, Shermadini, Bogdanovic in the 2nd round, they made out like bandits. Of course, you would not know that since you only watch Houston related sports teams.
