I'm happy with my 4 but my wife has been subjected to my OG iPhone since losing her 3G iphone and it's seriously on its last legs after being through the wash twice and dropped more times than I can count. I know she'll have me pre-ordering her the new iphone when it comes out regardless of if they call it a 4s or 5.
CNET actually had a similar article on their site, but this was the picture that they had: Spoiler http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105...ig-changes-for-iphone-5/?tag=TOCmoreStories.0 New renderings of what the next iPhone iteration could look like have surfaced on the site This is my next, and they indicate a major overhaul. Multiple sites claim to have confirmed that the iPhone 5 will not be a simple update of the last generation, but a substantial redesign, complete with a new tapered shape to the case. The reports also say the home button will be enlarged, rather than scrapped--which had been another rumor--and that the front of the phone will be almost all screen, lending credence to previous rumors that Apple was working with special rounded glass for this generation. TIMN also speculates that the phone could be able to go global with both GSM and CDMA capability. The site had its renderings done based on information it claims to have obtained from multiple sources. This latest rumor contradicts earlier reports that the next iPhone would be little changed from the current model. The feature I'm most concerned with at this point is the bigger screen...so much so that I would highly consider another smartphone if the next iphone doesn't have one. I understand how it could possibly affect battery life but quite honestly, I don't really care.
Of all the criticisms of Apple, this has to be the dumbest one. Every single tech company on the planet comes out with new and redesigned products on a regular basis, and if they don't, that typically means they're sucking hind wind. No one is forcing anybody to buy the product (save for the 3G to iOS4 fail), so getting all huffy about a new release is really wasted energy.
Hey Donny, if the man/woman thinks that his/her 13th post EVER on this board is worth the iPhone bashing, then let it be
Ok I was being dramatic about the time between phones, but all I am saying is that alot of tech that is in the phone is underwhelming when compared to phones that come out on alternate platforms... The first 3 or 4 post shared my sentiment.. If you are a iPhone guy then thats your bag and nothing could probably change it, but I don't see the point in upgrading my phone every year for something that other phones could do months before it was on the market.
Eh, people with longer posting histories have made the same point before. Figured it was worth addressing.
You don't see the point, but apparently lots of people with disposable income (whether they have the latest generation phone or not) seem to see the point, and that's all that matters. Can't hate them for giving the people what they want, and making money in the process. And as far as "other phones", you and I both know that the brand loyalty that Apple has built up is the reason that many of their users don't consider "other phones" a viable option when it comes to upgrading. That loyalty is well earned, and exploited to its absolute fullest economic potential. As it should be.
Well, in other news, RIM and Blackberry is losing... and in a big way... RIM, which has been losing ground to rivals and cutting its financial targets, said it pulled in less revenue and sold fewer BlackBerry phones than expected for the first fiscal quarter ended May 28. It posted the first quarterly drop in BlackBerry sales since 2005. The company said the bad news will continue through the current quarter, which ends in August, since delays certifying its latest slate of phones mean they won’t start coming out until late August, missing an important back-to-school sales season. Shares of RIM tumbled $5.15, or 15%, to $30.18 in after-hours trading following the report, after closing at $35.33 on the Nasdaq Stock Market Thursday. The stock has lost nearly half its market value so far this year, including the after-hours decline. To help boost results, RIM said it plans to “streamline operations” by reducing headcount and reallocating resources to high-growth projects, in a program it began at the beginning of the quarter. I still remember 5 years ago when Blackberry was the Iphone, and every teenager/college student had to have one.
Dude, you walk around with the internet in your pocket. You have all the knowledge of the world, thousands upon thosands of Alexandrian libraries at your command, at your beck & call, waiting for you in your freaking pocket. How does that make IPhone users sheep?
I doubt that the iPhone is going to get a major design change. The iPhone 4 design is still the best in the biz (imo). Apple is not going to waste money releasing a whole new design this early on. If I were looking to upgrade from my 3GS (which I'm not), I would be happy with an upgraded processor, and 4G support.
I too walk around with the internet in my pocket.....but I don't salivate every 8-12 months that Apples comes out with a new "must have" product.
People do this with just about every popular product. You've never wanted something updated even though the older model you have isn't that old/is fine? Hell, I can think of plenty of times this has happened with just new graphics cards/chipsets. Just because I want something that I have an older model of doesn't mean your picture applies or I can't think for myself, thanks.
Could be the new iPhone 5. http://gizmodo.com/5826578/could-this-be-the-design-of-the-iphone-5/gallery/1
