No apostrophe s! I'm going to try the holy grail of BBQ back-to-backs in a couple of weeks hopefully : Snow's followed by Franklin. Brisket heaven.
Wow! That's some good eating, and good luck getting your goodies before they run out. I like simple menus at BBQ places. Here's Snow's: Menu at Snow's BBQ Brisket Sausage Chicken Pork Ribs Homemade Potato Salad Homemade Cole Slaw Beans What else do you need? Sauce!
Ahhhhh...heaven on earth. My apartment was just south of there when I was going to SHSU. We'd get the wonderful smell right at our front door some days. Damnit. I'm hungry now.
I've never eaten at Bubba's but always see it on the way to and back from Houston. I've heard mixed reviews about it. I've only had the jerky from Woody's. I need to try both of these places one day.
I've been to Bubba's but that was like 9 years ago...it wasn't bad...I've seen Woody's but have never been...I've been meaning to try the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church Barbeque in Huntsville... On a side note, in Fairfield, there is a place called Ponte's Dinner...pretty good food...
Woody's HWY 7 exit Centerville, I have property there, frequent BBQ eatery experience there' I have eaten at WOODY'S 4 OR 5 times until one of the locals told me to try the little place across the street from Woody's it is in front of the Woody's on the East side of I45 a little place called Brother's I think the sausage and beef and sauce is far better then Woody's, Take a cooler with you to take home a dozen turkey legs (damn good) they freeze well. Buy jerky at Woody's and BBQ across street.
New Zion does not smoke there meat as long as some BBQ places do. They smoke for 3 to 3 1/2 hour then wrap in foil cook for another 2 1/2 to 3 hours the put it in a big ice chest for 2 to 3 hours to finish tenderizing and use as needed.Comes out surprisingly good for quick cooked BBQ. Nothing to turn your nose up at.
If you go thru Canton TX try Baker's Ribs on South side of I 20 It also has the Original House of Fried Pies in the same building. BBQ and pies or very good. Sausage is peppery, beef and ribs could be eaten by toothless people. It seems to repeat a few hours later but still good the second time down. Open 7 days a week 9 till 8. If in Paris TX Scholl Bros BBQ (1528 Lamar ST) is a must great BBQ almost = to Snows BBQ. EXCEPT for the sausage take a pass on that and just let the BBQ beef melt in your mouth. They also have great sauce and also Pittsburgh hot links. Sides or okay. Closed on Sunday.
I used to get to Franklin's trailer at 10:30 and be like the 20th person in line. Haven't even tried now with the new building. I'd imagine you'd have to be there at least an hour before opening time now.
If any of you try Woody's, there is a Woody's location on both sides of the freeway. I can't remember which one has the BBQ (maybe both do?) or what the difference is between the two. They're usually packed on weekend nights. The BBQ place you're probably thinking of is Country Cousins. It was either you or someone else that's mentioned it on these forums in the past. I still haven't tried it, though.
I wish you had posted this a while back. I drove out to Paris to pick up a bunch of bison meat. I stopped at a catfish place there on the way back. Not bad, but not the best. There are too damn many bbq places on the planet... wait... did I just say that?
You are right about it being Country Cousins, It is a little place that you order from the front porch but it is still better then Woody's. Haven't been to the Woody's on the west side of I 20 just the east side.Think it maybe more of a convenience store but I bet it has jerky also. Been to to many BBQ places. Just remember where they are located at. If I walk into a new place and cant smell the smoke & BBQ I turn around and get the hell out of there!
