I'd make that move for sure. :) However, the Pistons are so bad they may not be willing to also give up the 33rd (a high pick in the second round). They need all the help they can get.

Even still if they weren't willing to fork over the 33rd, the 14 + 23 for the 8 straight up would work well as Clutch said early on in the thread. At this point we can use quality and not quantity with 11 already under contract not including Chuck Hayes or Yao.

As I recall, Kobe was taken at 11: now that's amazing.

Just wiki'ed Todd Fuller and did you know he graduated Summa from NC State in applied mathematics, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, then turned down a Rhodes Scholarship to enter the draft? Amazing!

I guess the mathematics didn't apply too well to his NBA career.

Good question. Presuming Valanciunas (and Kanter) are already gone, my speculation is that Morey may want his pick of a/the top wing in this years draft class. If you look at the various mocks the following group of wings is more or less slated to disappear between 7 and 13:
Jan Vesely (he could go higher); Kawhi Leonard; Marcus Morris (who projects to a 3 in the pros); Klay Thompkins; Alec Burcs & Chris Singleton.

Hypothetically, if Morey believes that one of this group is clearly superior in talent to the rest, then perhaps he has that one targeted to draft and can only assure that we get it by moving up. If we draft a quality wing, it would make a quality wing expendable as an asset in a future trade. Other than this hypothetical, I'm in the dark as to why the desire to move up.

Or, Morey is leap frogging the Jazz to grab Jimmer/turn around and trade the pick for a 2012 lotto pick.

If morey ends up flipping the #14 & #23 for a 2012 lotto pick, I'm happy.

I think if Valanciunas get taken with in the Top 6(which things seem to be pointing that way). Then I think it would be best for us to stay at 14th and pull the rumored Chicago trade for Asik + draft picks using Courtney Lee + other assets.

Try to load up on dome draft picks(through the Chicago deal) allowing us to move around and get the players we want at the middle of the draft (like Nikola Vucevic or Tobias Harris) on draft night.

I am the only one who thinks Valanciunas will be a bust? He doesn't seem to have any shot blocking ability or defense. Plus, you can't even pronounce his name. Biyombo is who Morey should try his hardest for IMO.

    This part is interesting...

Because Its been reported on ESPN that both the Sac and Cavs are considering Leonard and Thompson at the 7th and 4th picks, respectively.

    Man I can't wait for tomorrow's draft!:)

Rockets are after Kanter not Valanciunas , and are hoping to get the 8th pick. If Kantar is not drafted when the 5th pick is announced , he will drop all the way to eight.
Otherwise they will draft Donatas Motiejuna using their 14th pick.

I don't believe Tristan Thompson will go in the top 10 but now I'm hoping he somehow does because that 8th pick sure would be nice.

Kanter will get picked up earlier than 8th, that's for sure. If he is our real target, Morey must be confident his package to move up even earlier than 8, will get it done.

Only way this happens is if Wolves or Jazz take Kanter.

    1. CLE -Kyrie
    2. MIN- Kanter
    3. Utah-DWill
    4. CLE- T.Thompson
    5. TOR-Knight?
    6. WAS-Vesley
    7. SAC-Leonard
    8. Rockets pick?

I guess the Rockets would go with Valanciunas. I would take Klay Thompson. Biyombo and Singleton would be considered as well.
