I would prefer someone other than Motiejunas at 23. Maybe even Jeremy Tyler. He would be more physical a player than marshmallow Motie.
That's exactly who I think he may pick. I honestly think he can play the 3 although he played post at KU
If we keep the 23rd pick I would almost be willing to bet that we either pick a foreign project to leave overseas or Jeremy Tyler. The idea being that no player in that spot is going to come in and be a starter and we already have a very capable bench. Why not shoot for the future or potential with this pick while there are still high ceiling players left?
I can see that pick happening as well, possibly Morey's top 2 outside the top 5. I wouldn't be surprised if he came out being the second or third best player in this draft. He's got some nice skills, somewhat of a tweener, but he looks mobile and well rounded enough where defenders are going to have a tough time with him at either spot.
They would have to play in Euro for another year or two. Donatas would be a good pick with the 23rd but not with our 14th.
But we also need to suck. So might as well trade away veterans first before we get these young prospects in,
BRING ME LARRY SANDERS YAHHHHH!!!! If we get the number 10, it shouldn't be too tough to jump up a few more pics to get the guy we want...
i wonder if Tristan Thompson is the guy Morey covets. He's a very Morey-esq player; he'd be an excellent defender, incredible wing-span, versitile enough to defend the 4 and the 3 positions. He's a shot-blocking rebounding machine; so young, with a lot of offensive upside. I just have a feeling that he's high on Morey's list.
So you think Thompson is too slow to cover NBA 3's? I haven't watched him as much as others have (not being a longhorn), so I defer to your judgement, but i was under the impression he was super athletic with quick feet. Word is that Thompson is the guy Detroit covets at #8: With top prospects in New York Thursday for media and service responsibilities, a person familiar with the draft discussions said the Pistons appear to have zeroed in on Texas small forward Tristan Thompson with the eighth pick. Thompson canceled other scheduled workouts after working out for the Pistons with five other players Wednesday. CBSSports.com http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm
Having watched Thompson a lot, I agree that he won't be able to guard NBA 3's. With that said, he's a very athletic PF who is a very good rebounder and shot blocker. He is a very productive player and thus, a Morey-esq player as you put it. He'd be a great pick if he somehow falls to #14. We are stacked at PF right now but as far as talent and potential, he'd be a great pick IMO.
We basically already have our 2011 draft picks in Thabeet and Terrence Willams. Barring moving some veterans, there won't be any playing time for rookies anyway. Lowery/Dragic Martin/Lee Bud/Williams Scola/Pat Chuck/Yao/Thabeet/Miller (DL) A SF could play, but where else will a rookie get minutes. The C is a mess but if Yao can play a little, he will play. I think Thabeet will play to prove his value, make or break. Taking the C and stashing him could be a great idea for a GM with job security.
