I bet not. Im willing to bet that the Rockets will come away as winners of this draft.

Where'd they get the 8th pick?

8 or 10...it's a bad deal. 2 picks (assets) are better than 1. In this draft, as I said in another thread, the difference between what you can get at 8, 10, or 14 is nothing. 23 nets you a good prospect.

Can some one also explain to me why people are so excited about the prospect of drafting a Euro who likely won't be released or bought out from his contract?

The deal won't work that way, I believe. If the Bucks don't get their guy, Jonas V, then they trade the pick however if he is there then no deal. Actually it's quite risky depending who ends up where.

I really don't value the 23rd pick much in this draft but I would like to have picked up a big man with it, not sure we'd find one that's worth the 10th pick outside of Kanter or Vesley.

Because he is good and if he was able to be bought out, he would have been drafted in the top 5. Because maybe this season will not matter much if there is a lock out. Because we are willing to wait as opposed to Cavs, Kings, etc who desperately need help to boost attendance.

i can actually help you out on this one.. i was watching nba tonight last night on espn and they said that drafting someone overseas in this years draft could be a smart idea because if the lockout happens to occur this year then you dont have to worry about your draft pick not playing because he will still be playing overseas developing... so its like a win win situation they say

That is correct...nothing has been traded yet. This is just a deal in place if the Bucks can't get J.V.

The guy has the potential to be a franchise center and in this kind of draft, it would be worth a one year wait for that kind of player. I'm not sold on the kid but for a team desperate for a franchise player, not a bad risk to take. Also note, he would be a huge asset in trade talks for superstar players much like Favors was this year.

I think these questions are better:

Is it worth giving up the 23rd pick to draft ahead of Golden State, Utah, and Phoenix? All of these teams are fairly good at evaluating players.

Is it worth keeping the 23rd pick in a draft that isn't deep when the player Morey is targeting will likely be available at 38?

The Rockets have 11 players (assuming they don't pick up the option on Carroll) signed, and it will be 13 if they re-sign Yao and Hayes. They only have room for two players, so why do they need three picks? What if they want to sign a free agent?

I know there is a lot of hype watching Morey make three picks on draft night, but I'm confident he is making the best moves available to improve our team.

:grin:STOP TREATING PLAYERS WE HAVEN'T DRAFTED YET LIKE ASSETS:p

Dude, what the heck are you talking about?

    Are you a proffessional scout?

The difference between just one spot can be monumental. Stephen Curry and Jordan Hill were one spot apart.

Here are some examples of some four spot differences in recent history similar to this deal: 2009: Earl Clark (14) and Brandon Jennings (10). 2008: Brook Lopez (10) and Brandon Rush (13). 2007:Noah (9) and Julian Wright (13).

One extra prospect at 23 doesnt make up for missing a player of that caliber.

Essentially the probability of getting a non-bust is higher than if we stayed at 14.

It's a weak draft anyway... 14 and 23 do not mean much at all.

Anyways... We're getting Jimmer Fredette! The next white hope! :D

The 23rd pick really doesn't hold much value at all, plus I can't see Morey wanting to add 2 more guaranteed rookie contracts, especially if they won't be seeing playing time.

I still think 14 and 23 are too much for 10.:(
