The movie is from Dead or Alive, which is a fairly successful video game on it's own. Not a ripoff of Mortal Kombat at all.
No it wasn't, the first one was also a giant piece of crap, in fact even more so. At least you could somewhat tell what was going on in the actions scenes of the sequel, the last 45 minutes of the 1st one was just mindless chaotic animation without the slightest bit of direction. I had no idea what was going on. It blows my mind that people only rip on the 2nd Transformers movie while maintaining that the first one actually had anything good about it
It's just Snyder's excuse for putting is teenage wet dreams on screen with the thinnest of story threads. Garbage is garbage regardless of how he trys to swing it. I'm a fan of Snyder but this was just a disaster of a movie, if you take it as a whole.
Man of Steel still has a chance to be good, right? I'm hoping this movie was a fluke... because Henry Cavill is a hunk and I want to see him succeed.
Yep, that's the key. Certainly looking like Synder can direct but might want to leave the writing to others. Although, again haven't seen it so strictly from the reviews, it appears he meant it for a certain demographic and not for the wide audience. I guess this was his passion project of sorts and the studio let him do it after the success of 300 and Watchmen.
Very much so, mainly because the "plot" here is lifted from various places and not very subtlety. I actually think it would have been better if he'd just ignored plot and done 4 or 5 self contained mini stories.
That would have been interesting and different, I agree. I was watching an interview with Abbie Cornish on Jimmy Kimble and was taken aback to find out this bad boy was being filmed at the same time as the A-Team movie. I understand movies tend to go in post-production and changes are often made that slow the process down but that was a long time ago to barely be coming out.
Actually happens a lot man, there are movies that were films as much as a few years ago before they are released. Lots of things can come into play resulting in those kind of delays.
Ah, that's interesting. I guess I heard her say that and realizing A-Team came out last year, threw me off. I'd heard of small delays but hadn't heard them being that long but the public often doesn't hear that stuff anyway.
Well, also, Sucker Punch had about a million times more post-production work to do than A-Team did, which takes a lot of time. Just ask James Cameron! hehehehe
Exactly, both movies had bad plot lines, bad jokes and were bad altogether. But in the first movie the Transformers didn't have any character, and in fight scenes you could not see what was happening or who were fighting. For a action movie they really screwed up the special effects.
saw this film last night and left the theater satisfied..look i wasnt expecting anything amazing story wise i was just looking to be entertained with cool visuals and some action and for that I was. I had no idea it was pg-13 though it could have been a lot darker and probably better story wise if Snyder was allowed to have a R-rated. maybe a directors cut will be released on blu-ray i didnt like carla gugino's acting and all the accent was terrible i have no idea why they had to make her a foriegn "dance instructor/doctor" oh and Amber ...more of her please i did like the soundtrack though quite a bit
I watched the extended directors cut last night of this hoping it would somehow salvage the movie. There were 3 noticeable differences in the movie that made it seem more complete but as it stood before I think the studio really botched this one forcing a pg-13 label from the get go. spoiler of the added scenes for those who wish: Spoiler they added back in the song that Gorski and Blue sang (featured on soundtrack) it was baby dolls first night and it sort of shows the cabaret, gambling and personal attention that the clients there get. It is a good song though A bit of an extended fight sequence when baby doll, rocket and sweet pea land into the castle fighting the goblins and orcs Scene at the end when the high roller shares a room with baby doll and explains to her what he wants from her, what he needs since he has everything else. being forced to really deal with a pg-13 tag from the beginning hurt, not sure if Snyder could have had the girls show more skin (or even nudity) and definitely could have made the battle sequences far more graphic instead of having to use steam, robots and orcs (with greenish blood) to avoid have it be too realistic (in terms of violence) the lack of blood in this film was noticeable from the get go. all in all i would say the DC of this movie is entertaining to watch once, but leaves you a bit disappointed knowing that it could have been a lot more. the soundtrack is still probably my favorite thing about the movie, that and jamie chung maybe nsfw but better not take the risk for others Spoiler
I'll give it another whirl on disk but sounds like I'll have the same overall impression, a real shame.
I watched it the other night. Man that movies sucked. Who would've thought that a movie with a lot of great action and scantily clad young women could be so damned boring.
