That any draftee would trust a "guarantee" is hilarious.

Yes, why take the risk? Besides, the Rockets have 11 players under contract already, so they don't really need to bring in multiple rookies. And if they want an "Euro stash" guy, my guess it they can always get a later 1st or early 2nd rounder for cash or in a separate trade.

That's probably a smart move for the Pistons if it works out. Kawhi is a good player, and will fit in nicely there. I don't know if he's better than Patterson, and I know he's not better than Scola, so he'd have problems finding the floor in Houston, but he's a good player.

Make it happen (or some sort of deal along these lines). We definitely don't have the room or need for two rookies. Gimme some Vucevic or Valunciunas.

Nope. Unless you expect him to be a 20+ FGA per game guy. He's in the mold of G. Wallace/S. Marion.

I can already see draft day posts in the BBS. With everyone having so many ideas on who the Rockets should pick, I could imagine about 5-10 hate posts on why Morey did not pick player_001

Either way, I am excited to watch the draft again this year.

So true, also Morey will say that he doesn't expect the player we draft to contribute in any significant way next season.

Just my opinion. If the rockets can't move up in this draft from #14, then I really see them trading out of that position for possibly a pick next year or there after. They could still pick up Asik now in a trade with Chicago and they have tons of young players already on their roster. Keep the 23rd pick and especially that coveted 38th second round pick.

I don't know. Do other teams also have tendencies to Rashard Lewis draftees?

I am going to enjoy the aftermath here when we pass up on Valanciunas and pick Morris instead. Morey has ninja'd you all, once again.

I know you have a mancrush on Morris, but I think Valanciunas makes way too much sense as a lottery euro-stash.

I know Morey says he never ever takes position into account, but I'm sure that's only due to centers being supremely overrated on draft boards(i.e. seriously Larry Sanders over Patterson?). But if a center actually DROPS and becomes somewhat of a steal, I think he pounce on it.

The reaction will be priceless (as it usually is on any given draft night). If it's Morris it will likely be just like the Brooks pick all over again -- "OMG, A POINT GUARD!?! WE HAVE RAFER!!!! WTF?".

I know you started a thread urging us to stay away from the Valancuinas types, and I'm merely suggesting we move up to take one of those guys for practically purposes. You know, elephant-in-the-room type stuff. But if we end up with somebody like Morris and he's the real deal then I'm definitely on board.

But yeah, you very well could be right given that we were in the same boat last year -- desperately lacking a legit shot-blocking five yet we passed on Whiteside/Alabi/Orton in favor of PP when we had Scola and Hill already on board.

Hey, at this point, it has gone beyond just a mancrush. I'm ready to go full homo. I haven't liked a prospect this much(who is actually semi-obtainable) probably since Brandon Roy. With that said, I'd be fine with Valanciunas as long as Morey likes him. But really, what exactly do we(fans) know about the kid? Just sayin', don't be surprised if DM pulls a fast one.

Nah, not necessarily "stay away". If we can get him at 8 or 14, then it might be worth it. If we have to move up to 4, I think the cost is too high.

Kawhi is a SF not PF. And we're speculating that if he's there @ 8th the Pistons will select him if not, they may be more willing to trade out with us.

Baller, this is why I would like to see Morey trade out of the #14 (for a future pick) if he can't move up or if the player he covets doesnt' fall to #14.

What I could see happening is Kemba Walker taking a "free fall" out of the top 5 down to 8. They already have an undersized SG on their roster & Rodney Stuckey is still their PG from what I can see. We'd definitely draft him, he's got great potential.
