What Houston needs is another "urban" radio station. 97.9 the Box sucks now without competition (even though Party 104.9 and later 93.3 was just reggaetone BS mixed in with some hip-hop).
I agree. There should be an "urban" station that plays artists like GangStarr, The Roots, Mos Def, OutKast, Atmosphere, Sage Francis, etc. Throw in the occasional classic albums like Reasonable Doubt and Illmatic, and it will be my #1 radio station.
oldies 94.5 was the best!! Im 25 and i miss that station cause they played 60's, 70's mostly.... Good music
word, i'm 29, and grew up with that station cause thats all my dad listened to while I was in the car with them.
What we need is an electronic music station. A station that plays House, Progressive, Techno, and Trance. I'd listen to that **** all day.
First these damn Mexicans take over 101 KLOL and now we can't get a station to play a good mix of rock 'n roll. 93.7 comes the closest but now I am actually finding myself listening to 96.5, 95.7 and 99.1. Remember the Alamo!
I never listened to 106.9 but i might start now. The 90's blow away a lot of that cheesy 80's music. 93.7 plays the beatles frequently, you don't listen enough. The station selection in our town kinda sucks. We only have one rap station and it's terrible. They play the same 10 songs every hour, and never songs more than a year old. No station for metal music, i like 94.5 but with the exception of mandatory metallica, they don't play any metal music. Any no general purpose oldies pop station, 99.1 is alright, but rarely strays past the mid 90's. We got more spanish and country than you can shake a stick at.
It's too late now. 106.9 just reformatted and simulcasts 107.5 now, doing away with the 90's rock format. That's why this thread was bumped. http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/52154/107-5-the-eagle-houston-to-simulcast-on-106-9/
me too buddy. i'm not surprised 106.9 had crappy listenership, my friends somehow won ticket contests every week... i can't really find a radio station that i can listen to regularly, it just all sucks so much.
