[rQUOTEr]The Phoenix Suns are working on a buyout with Vince Carter, per the Arizona Republic's Paul Coro. Carter averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season. Carter signed a four-year, $61.8 million deal in 2007. He's entering the final year of the contract, which will pay him $18.9 million next season.[/rQUOTEr] [rquoter]They won't trade Vince Carter's contract, opting instead to buy him out for $4 million in the coming days.[/rquoter]
Because we don't want to waste money? He'll either go to the Heat, Lakers or Boston... Well, depending on the new CBA...
No for Rockets. The pick-up doesn't make much sense for the Heat. I could be spot off, but I think they got enough shot clock chuckers.
The demise of the the Magic! Bogans for Tyronne Lue Cook for Alston Alston, Lee, Battie for Carter, Anderson S&T Hidayet Turkoglu to Toronto Lewis for Arenas Carter, Pietrus, Gortat, 1st rd pick(pick Rockets now got), cash for Hidayet Turkoglu, Jason Richardson, Earl Clark Leading to.... Dwight Howard leaves Orlando!
I'm not sure VC is totally done. With reduced expectations, maybe he can be a scorer/3-point shooter off the bench for a team that doesn't depend on him to consistently to win games. I think he's done as a starter on a good team. But if the Bulls can't find anyone else, VC would be an improvement over Bogans. I question whether he would respond well to intense, detailed coaches like Tom Thibadeau and Ron Adams.
Not really, The Bulls wanted a SG that could defend while producing thus all the Courtney Lee talk. Vince Carter is slow and just isn't a starter anymore.
Carter isn't done. If he's willing to sign for a the minimum, then he's a good fit. Get that help now because there's no guarantee they'll find that courtney lee elsewhere. It doesn't mean the Bulls have to stop looking, since he is still an older player, but they need to lock up some help early on, if possible.
Who cares if he's completely washed up or only 80% washed up? He'll never be a 20ppg guy again. He's been unable/unwilling to attack the basket for several years. He's turned into an inefficient jump shooter that does next to nothing to participate in team play. He's never been remarkable on D, and pairing him next to Martin would be a disaster at that end. We're overcrowded as it is at the 2 and he's never been that good at SF, even in limited stretches. Courtney Lee is three times the all around player Carter is at this point. As for the Bulls....maybe. But they'll likely find him to be an even worse pickup than Boozer was. Why bring him in to be a sniper when you've got Korver hitting at over 40%?
