Have you heard of couch surfing? It seems like the in thing to do now. I've met several girls on my trips that were surfing all through europe.
We are heading to Sweden on Monday (for about a month) where it is the land of 65 degree highs. I can't wait to get out of this suffocating heat. I'm going to sleep with the windows open, play golf during the day, and have fika. Yes, I rule.
YES i know all the places i am visiting are in the 70s or 60s degrees Will be a great change from this triple digit heat!
This book is awesome. It will show you lodging, restaurants, sites, museums, etc and for what price and what to expect. It is definitely my companion over seas. Be safe, keep your head on a swivel.
Maybe I don't know my own country or maybe it's just me living here and being used to it, but I don't get why people would travel to Germany. There's nothing special to see here IMO. The weather isn't great. The people, for the most part are friendly, but a lot of them don't speak English (though most of the young people do ... in the western parts anyway). German women are the best, however I imagine it would be hard to find the ones place to go, though if you did your odds of getting laid should be pretty good, especially if you're black (ya I said it) and decently build. The more exotic the better, from what I can observe. The food is alright I guess, but again nothing special IMO. (I don't eat a lot of the stuff a lot of Amercians seem to like though (white bread, pork, etc.). I don't know, there are certainly some nice areas here in Germany, but if I only had a month or two to spare, I'd probably rather go to the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Denmark or Norway. ... Thinking about it it's not so bad actually. You just have to go the right areas at the right time. Germany as a whole is rather meh, but as part of a trip it could be pretty nice, depending on what exactly you're looking for. Maybe somebody else (AroundTheWorld?) can advertise our country a little better than myself.
HMMMHMM, have you ever spent some time abroad? Maybe it takes that to appreciate how attractive your own country is.
Yeah, I've been to all the countries I listed, as well as the Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Turkey, France and the Czech Republic. As far as living goes, I definitely prefer Germany over all those countries with the exception of Norway and maybe Denmark. Just for vacation though, I'm not sure Germany is the place to go, although like I stated earlier it certainly depends on what you're looking for. One thing I like about our country is that is comparatively clean. Berlin, Munich and Hamburg are nice cities, no questions asked. RĂ¼gen is a nice place, as are the areas around the Boden- and Chiemsee. The Zugspitzen area is pretty nice as well. You're probably right. It's easy taking your own country for granted. Germany is a nice country with some lovely areas. Just make sure to do the proper research as to where and when to go.
I had the time of my life in Berlin. Of course, it was also during the World Cup and Germany won while I was there.
