People are saying the city of Orlando is really strict on this but I know nothing about the city.

    I don't know man

What if those guys never wash their hands when they prepared the food?

They could be feeding all kinds of bacteria to the innocents !

Trust me I worked at Taco Bell for 3 years when I was young. If those guys didn't wash their hands when they cooked this food then it is no different then the average person eating at Taco Bell. Not to mention it should be the homeless persons freedom of choice, these are the same unfortunate souls who scavenge dumpsters.

"They were violating a controversial city ordinance that prohibits sharing food with large groups in a downtown city park more than twice a year. Food Not Bombs has been fighting the ordinance but lost a legal appeal in April, clearing the way for the city to begin enforcement."

They are following orders to collect their check, so they can feed their family. I can guarantee you that all those officers did not like what they were told to do.

I can't even begin to understand the logic behind this...

or is it because we live in a society where someone is "crazy" enough to want to share too many times, they must be doing something bad?

I guess the main problem I have with the ordinance is that it targets a public park, otherwise, I can see constituents not wanting homeless food drives outside their residence, business or whatever. Perhaps with Orlando being a tourist destination I can see them wanting to preserve the public park for the use of visitors (as opposed to the indigent).

The ordinance itself actually is somewhat understandable, if flawed.

The enforcement is disappointing (as it reads). Show up, warn, and give them a chance to stop and leave....arrest them only if they refuse.

yea exactly this was a public park and wasn't bothering anyone. It is kind of sad to see, I wonder what crimes and other cases they missed or paid less attention to in order to devote their time to this

"The arrests follow four on Monday and three last week. Despite the arrests, Food Not Bombs members say they'll continue their twice-weekly feedings at Orlando's signature park to bring attention to what they consider an unjust law."

Like I have said. Cops are over pay and are useless. Most of them are not very educated either. Guys who join the police department are usually corrupted.
