How would LA or NY be able to sign him since they are both well over the cap and have nothing of value to trade. Not to mention a probable hard cap looming. Why would Chicago want CP3 when they have Rose? They need a SG not a C.

If we cant pull off a top 8 pick I would like Morey to add a vet next to Scola and Martin.

    Dear Morey haters,

Which one those players were top 5/10 picks?

So we are shopping the rights to our 2012 pick non-lotto protected? Meaning we would trade it now to Team X and next year Team X would get it if it was 1-14 and the Nets would get it otherwise?

Ditto. Have heard this a million times, its harder to move up than most think. Maybe the threat of a possible hard cap finally opens the door for Morey to make a deal.

If we're offering a lotto pick next year, I don't see how we don't move up.

I don't know whom Morey would take with that #2 pick, but on his worst day, he'll at least turn it into a Kevin Martin plus defense.

    OK, I'm excited - just 4 days!

If DM doesn't do something amazing, I'm going to fly to Houston and egg his house. Then I'll go see how Alief is doing.

We are open to trading the non-Nets part of our pick next year which would have to be a lotto pick.

It's not a guaranteed pick, but somebody would probably bite.

Hopefully someone would bite. The rockets are young enough in my eyes, so if they shoot their wad in this draft I have no problem with it. They can always buy a late pick in 2012 if there's a player they really like.

Yeah because NY and Chicago have been filled with young rich superstar FAs for the last decade.

Oh wait, they've been two of the worst franchises in the league since the end of the 90s.

    Next?

Your post is seriously pointless. You're completely ignoring the current reality for what? So that you can argue with someone?

Sure, your argument would have possibly held water as recently as a year ago - but now they're two of the most promising teams in the league with Rose, Deng, Boozer and Noah in Chicago and Amare and Melo in NY (and by the way, they did just lure big name free agents in Boozer in Chicago and Amare and effectively Melo in NY). I'm pretty sure Dwight Howard might find the prospect of playing with those guys slightly more appealing than joining our All-Star nucleus of Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry.

I think it's extremely likely Morey is talking to Miami about Bosh.

The incoming CBA is at least a dead lock to bring about a harsher cap environment and cripple Miami's ability to improve their roster. Forget the hard cap, if the MLE/LLE are axed, Miami will be left with vet min deals to fill out their roster (10 guys due $65M)...and in a bind trying to resign Chalmers if Bird rights are in danger.

If Riley has decided he needs to surround Wade/LeBron with better, tougher role players (he does)...he's very likely to come to the conclusion that he needs to parlay Bosh and his $16M to do so.

Keep in mind, Miami unloaded a wealth of draft picks to land James/Bosh and figure to have only a poor 1st rounder next year. If they want to restock, cap savings and 3-4 draft picks could be one heck of a lifeline.

I'm not saying this because I want White Gloves Bosh...but I think it's a very likely scenario for Morey to chase.

Scola, Miller (I wish, probably Hill and Hayes), and several draft picks for Bosh (saves Riles $3M off the cap immediately and gives him the chance to load up on bargain priced rookies).

True, but those teams GOT good by using up their cap space. Chicago is capped out for the next several years (and Orlando isn't trading Howard for Deng or Boozer). New York has an outside shot at clearing space for CP3, but the new ("harder") cap will likely foreclose that as an option.

Houston, OTOH, could conceivably have the right combination of good young players, draft picks, expiring contracts and potential 2012 cap room to get a deal done, either next season or in the summer of 2012.

I'm not saying that it's likely. Just that it's more likely than New York, Chicago or (depending how much Orlando or New Orleans like Bynum) L.A. getting those guys.
