A lot of us are just dubious as to whether Ellis will actually help the team win. Losing Martin just sort of makes this a lateral move at best.
Ellis over Kmart every single day. Show me a SG that does not need the ball to be effective. And I will show you the SG version of Battier. Glue guy and nothing more. Scorers need the ball to score. And till today i still can't grasp the idea of how a ball hog gets 5 apg and a defensive liability gets 2 steals per game. Talks about KMart getting FTs. I just can't see that happening in the playoff. And that will reduce him to be a chucker.
I don't think to many back courts could run with Lowry/Ellis they are identical in a way, but also polar opposites. Lowry is a good defensive player able to guard much bigger 2 guards while Ellis can guard the point. With that combo, defensively, you switch assignments.
Great, so why bother trading Kmart? WHen playoff comes you get your very own Ellis. Ellis is a chucker, all he really does is throw up so many shots when some inevitably go in he gets like 20 pts a game.
But anyways i wouldn't want Ellis. Sure he's above decent, but, we need more length/size/athleticism and a player who can close out games. If we get a C and SF i'll be willing to go to war with that squad. Also, look at GS fast pace, he's able to get more shots in. With this team we got, and maybe Yao coming back, our offense won't be up and down the court like usual it will some what slow down a bit into the half court. This team needs to tighten up it's D something fierce. Players like Thabeet will get the team into transition with his defense if he uses it.
If we still had a proven great offensive coach like Adelman, I'd take Ellis over Martin, but as it is I'll keep Martin. He's too efficient to drop when the offense could go pear shaped in the coaching transition.
Maybe we have Rocket-Warrior games fresh in our minds. He sure as hell was a superstar against us. Regardless, I find it funny that this post is by a Heat fan.
As a "chucker" Ellis got a higher FG% while Kmart have a lower FG% even with all the "high percentage" shot and all the touchy fouls he have. And if we can have a backcourt of Brooks and Lowry earlier and Kmart and Lowry. Do you really see it as a down grade at the defensive end?
Here's an update for you. In today's NBA, there's this thing called a "3 point shot". Let me tell you how it works. If you shoot behind what's known as a 3 point line, you get 3 points, not 2. And you see, 3 is worth 50% more than 2. And take that into account, you'd see Martin shoots an eFG% of 50.6, while Ellis shoots an eFG% of 49.3. This is because when Martin makes a 3 pointer that Ellis can't shoot because he doesn't have that range, he actually scores 1.5 times what Ellis scores for that 2 pointer. So you need to adjust for that. It's funny how Ellis fans talk about how worthless Martin's FTs are. Yet take out the FTs, and Martin STILL shoots better than Ellis.
Yet, this had to do with Martin and Ellis.. If it was possible to get Curry, I'd be all over it too. We are lacking that player altogether, because Martin doesn't seem to want the ball at the end of games.
again, your lack of basketball knowledge shows again (and nice to see you dissing me here also). i probably post more on the GARM than you have posts. but anyways, you're judging a guy by how he plays against us? what kind of rationale is that? so jason terry is a superstar? so should we try to trade for jason terry? you don't judge a player by 3-4 games a season against us. you judge a player by his body of work for a few years on both ends. what ellis has shown the past few years is that he's a great scorer--inflated by playing in a system catered to his skills, and nothing else. we have players like that already. we need size/rebounding/all-around guys. ellis offers none of that. it is at best a lateral move if you get ellis, and we're not trying to stay mediocre. martin showed glimpses of wanting the ball in the 4th down the stretch of the season. i remember he said something about brooks for his lack of touches in the 4th after brooks got traded. if we are going to trade martin (or package him), we need to trade for players that will shore up our weaknesses and take us to another level. ellis or curry are not going to do that. right now, i would be content with our starting backcourt. i would trade others to get an asik/big men to shore up the interior. and continue to find ways to get that all-star.
The majority of posters here consider you to be a moron. You having 20k posts does not imply you being knowledgeable, it implies you being a loser. You are a ****ing r****ded bandwagonning douchebag and nobody likes you. I was responding to your comment along the lines of people who want Ellis do not watch Rocket games.
