On tha real Kevin Martin would win 6th man of the year if we brought him off the bench and he would fill that role much better. Ellis is one of the best scorers in the league right now.

A lot of Kevin Martin's shot attempts don't count because he is fouled. I PROMISE you, if Kevin Martin gets off a shot that is statistically recorded, chances are it was a very very good, uncontested shot. Ellis not so much.

Yeah, they are available for cheap because you don't win with them.

I wasn't suggesting he was. I wad just expressing my opinion of him. Talented player but not really worth giving up anything for.

Any rational, objective observer would as well. Obviously not everybody here fits into that category. People can throw out all the numbers and abstract stats that they want, but anybody who has consistently watched Monta and KMart play recently would agree with the statement above. Ellis is a much more complete basketball player than one-dimensional KMart. That is undeniable.

WTF? I was pretty enamored with Ellis back when I just looked at stat sheets.
Then I watched a few Warrior games and realized how much of a fool's gold he is.

Ellis is a chucker. Stuffs stat sheets with inefficient numbers. No thanks.

You trade Martin for Ellis every single time.

    1. Kyle Lowry-25
    2. Monta Ellis-25
    3.
    4. Patrick Patterson-22
    5.

Daryl needs to keep chipping away at our youth movement... Continue to get YOUNGER!!!

I would definitely trade Martin for Ellis, but only because Ellis is younger and our team should be losing more games.

If I wanted to win more and go for a championship, I'd take Martin over Ellis any day. On our team we're expecting Martin to score rebound assist defend like Kobe on the Lakers, but in reality Martin would be a crazy number 2 option on a good team with another star. Right now Martin has to carry almost the entire Rockets offense besides Scola, and Scola is not exactly the best all-star out there.

So yea, I'd do the trade, but only because Ellis is younger, more exciting, is a better carryer(is that even a word? lol) of the team and can dominate games better than Kevin. But Kevin is much more of a winner.

Doubt Golden State does any trade of this kind though. They probably want someone who's much a better defender than Kevin.

I'd love for Ellis to be on the Rockets.

I'd clean house and then get Ellis and a bunch of top picks. Ellis will be getting 30+ ppg and we'll get another top pick,

laugh, he's the type of player you want if your goal is to lose and look good doing it.

Generally most ball-hogs are CRUNCH TIME scorers as well so I definitely would do this although I know that K.M. and picks probably isn't enough for the Warriors.

All Ellis' CRUNCH TIME scoring got the Warriors 36 wins and had the team ranked 12th overall offensively.

Maybe he needs to start playing before it gets to CRUNCH TIME.

You know, age doesn't tell everything. Yes, Monta Ellis is 25. Kevin Martin is 28. On the surface, Ellis is younger. But the surface hardly tells the whole story.

    1. Ellis played for 6 years. Martin for 7. So despite the age gap, their NBA years are much closer.

    2. Ellis averaged 35mpg. Martin averaged 31mpg. Martin doesn't play as much. Total minutes played in career about even. Tread-wise, they're actually about the same

    3. Ellis plays a more athletic game, and his game deteriorates faster with age. Martin, like Ray Allen or Reggie Miller, pretty much should continue to produce well into his 30s without major decline.

    4. Ellis and Martin both averaged 63 games per year. They both have injury histories, but seemed to be doing well now. So overall, I wouldn't say either is a much bigger injury risk than the other.

If you just want younger players for the sake of having younger players, Ellis over Martin is a given. But the reason we care about age isn't just for the sake of it.] But rather due to (A)future potential and (B)future number of years at peak production.

Martin and Ellis are both mature NBA players, who are unlikely to improve. Both players carry injury risk, but not at Yao-caliber. Their basketball tread is roughly the same due to Ellis averaging more minutes. And while Ellis is younger, Martin's style is more likely to age better.

Overall, raw age aside, I view both players as roughly the same "effective" age.

This might be true in quarters 1-3. In the clutch? Ellis is head and shoulders above Martin.
