I can understand drawing the line at nudity (which I think our society is oversensitive on as well but another topic) or something near that but is exposed underpants really that bad?

Don't we see similar dress in other instances in public? I've seen girls and guys go into Walmart, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. with their swimming gear on and that is pretty much the same thing but I don't see people running to ban swimming suits and wear in all public places except pools and water parks.

What about guys who choose to run, do yard work, workout, etc. without a shirt? Should we get ordinances in place for them?

Why do women who expose 'whale tails' get a pass but men who sag don't? I've never seen or heard of women issued citations or get in trouble because the pants wear sagging below the waist and exposing their underwear.

What about people who bring their kids into public with shirts and diapers, after all the diaper is the kid's underwear? Should we ban this?

To me it is a little ridiculous, yes if a guy's private area or backside is actually showing by all means make him cover himself up but I and nobody else suffers because of exposed underpants.

Coincidentally a few days ago I saw 3 guys standing around talking to each other. They all had their jeans identically sag down so their entire ass was hanging out (thankfully with boxers on).

To each his own, but from afar it just looked like 3 guys trying to decide who would bang whom first. It's almost a 180 difference between what they look like to me compared to what they think they look like.

In America . . .. MY RIGHT TO TELL YOU WHAT I WANNA LOOK AT SUPERCEDES YOUR RIGHT TO LOOK HOW YOU WANT? . . . in some instances

If I were to say the guys looking like a human pin cushion is more offensive than sagging pants. . . .everyone will talk about I am not letting them express themselves. . but sagging pants is an unacceptable form of self expression now.
Remember when tattoos were considered trashy?

People b*tch about governmental invasion into their lives. . . until it invades someone else's life in a way they agree with

    Typical Americans

I'm in that guy's corner. I don't think an airline has any business making a dress code that is more strict than the local laws regarding public decency, except where justified by security, sanitation, or other considerations specific to their operations. And, if they are going to have rules more strict than law, they need to publicly post it, not put it in some fine-print on some receipt no one will read.

You can say all he had to do was pull his pants up, but honestly no one is going to react well when someone tells them that their mode of dress is unacceptable. And, when you inform a black person that his mode of dress (that happens to be commonly associated with black people) is unacceptable according to a company policy he was completely unaware of, of course he's going to feel like it's racially-motivated and unjust and of course he's going to balk at complying.

And what does the airline gain from this policy anyway? Their customers are going to see black people with their pants sagging in public all over the place anyway. Is US Air going to be the oasis of shirt-tuckers in a desert of pants-saggers?

I can't believe they went this far with it, while still I admit that the pseudo germophobe in me would prefer if the person who sat for three+hours in my seat before me had more than their underwear between them and said seat. Them having a tattoo or a funny piercing or blue hair wouldn't bother me the same.

The world doesn't revolve around you, it doesn't matter what you think. You are part of the world, not the other way around.

You don't make the rules, despite whether you agree with them or not. "I see girls in bathing suits in Walmarts so this should be acceptable too". That's just your opinion. (By the way a lot of places ban certain types of attire such as swimsuits).

You need to break off from your own-little-world mentality..

Open a business and you can refuse service to people with tattoos and piercings if you choose to.

Personally, I'd prefer not to see anyone's underwear if I am on a plane or walking down the street or in a mall or in a restaurant.

Yeah, I think you need to break away from what you ASSumed I was saying and quit misquoting me. What you posted is not even close to what I stated. Thanks though.

Obviously US Airways shares my opinion. I can also choose to frequent businesses that share my opinion as can you. Let your money speak and let those in charge know why you choose not to do business with them. Have you called US Airways to complain about their stated policy yet? If not, why not?

What a dumb dumb. Just pull up your pants while you are on the plane and drop them back down when you are off. It's just plain stupid to make enough of a fuss over it to get arrested.

I'm not assuming, I'm observing...that you and pgabriel will defend the most ridiculous things people have done...just because they are black. OJ Simpson. 'nuff said.

See, that's exactly your problem. Your world view revolves around that assumption.
