The more i think about it, not being able to trade up would not necessarily be a bad thing. We could always make a trade with Philly for Iggy, Nocioni and the 16th pick for Scola, Hill, Miller, Bud, #23 and #38. That should be enough to entice Philly. With #14 and 16 we could still get that big that we want (Vucevic, who is not that much different than Kanter) and another three. Adding Iggy to your starting line-up now gives us a defensive core surrounding Martin, which is exactly what is needed. Also, i think they should throw Thabeet out there with the starting line-up and let him earn his lumps. He is bound to contribute with that type of playing time. There is always Chuck to back him up (if he is resigned, of course).
1. You're right, my bad. Was drinking a very cold brew. Musta got brain freeze. 2. I agree Philly badly needs a pf like Randolph. I have felt he is a better option at c than anything we currently have & wouldn't let him slip through. 3. If you're going to replace Beasley with the #2, why do you need Bud. Also Hill is nowhere near Randolph. I just don't like what we gain out of this 3 way trade. I would probably do the Cleveland trade though. Byron Davis is the penelty for moving for the 4th pick.
With Chuck as plan B, we aren't any worse off than we were last year. Plus we're developing the young players(Thabeet & the c we draft), which everyone was screaming for Adelman to doanyway.
2 -Most team want a player like A.Randolpf - ( Yes, he would look real good in Rocket red - but he is a headcase IMO & P.Patterson has the role of "project" ) -E.Brand /A.Randolpf or A.Randolpf/M.Speights at the post - nice combo both ways IMO - He make Philly say YES ( a long with the 14th pick & T.Williams ) -A.Randolpf would get a lot of playing time there, too. E.Brand's age, contract & health ,which was better last season - BUT he will never be "himself" again... 3 - The T-wolf need C.Bud for spacing / slashing / SCORING off the bench ( we took ( W.Johnson ) their back-up 3 in the trade... -K.MARTIN...K.MARTIN...K.MARTIN is why they do the trade... - You are 100% right J.Hill is nowhere close to being the player that A.Randolpf is and NEVER will be... Can A.Randolpf play the role of back-up much longer? he would as a TWolf - K.Love & D.Milicic ~ they seem to like D.Milicic ~ this role fits J.Hill to a "T"... I just don't like what we gain out of this 3 way trade Houston out - K.Martin / J.Hill / C. Bud / T.Williams / 14th Pick in - M.Beasley / W.Johnson / E.Turner All three could start for us put P.Patterson at center ( KU ) and let's play small ball... Lowry /
My dream scenario that makes us a contender... Chase Budinger+Jordan Hill+Brad Miller+Memphis Obligation pick +#14 for Andre Iguadola Luis Scola+Hasheem Thabeet+Terrence Williams+#23+future first rounder for Bogut. Bogut/FA Patterson/Hayes AI/ Martin/Lee Lowry/Dragic
Here's an interesting idea... I wonder if Indy would go for Scola + incentive for Granger package. We could also scout out who they really like with their #15 pick and then take him one position ahead with our own pick to use as added ransom Here's why I think it would work: -Luis seems like a great fit for them and it allows young George to play his natural position. -If someone Indy really likes (e.g. Jimmer) is available at 14 we should take him and then swap him with Indy's pick at 15 which we would choose a guy we like. -We can offer to take back money or give them added cash since they are so concerned with finances. -Offer one of our young pieces like Bud or TWil ???/Thabeet/vet min Yao Hayes/2Pat/Hill Granger/Bud Martin/Lee Lowry/Dragic This would still give us #15, #23, and #38 this year + next year's NY pick and our entire 2nd unit sans 2Pat to get a good center or move up in the draft.
We could do something like Thabeet, Lee , Hill, and Twill for Jefferson. I doubt this would be very appealing to them though. Jefferson makes $13 mil a year and if we don't want to give up too many of these "assets", then we would have to include scola, martin, or lowry.
According the the NY Daily News -- the T-Wolves are shopping Michael Beasley. I think with his star potential and improved play from last year he could be a trade target. Specially given that he can play a position of need at SF. I can see Beasley(22yrs old) developing a Carmelo Anthony type of game. A post up type SF, that can knock down the mid-range jump shot. But can also create off the dribble, face up, and ram his way to the rim. So with that said, I would do this: Kevin Martin for Michael Beasley, Wayne Ellington, Lazar Haywood Then immediately trade: Luis Scola, 23rd pick and 38th pick for the Kings 7th overall pick Then draft one of the remaining centers with the 7th overall pick either it be Kanter, Valanciunas or Biyombo, and then draft PF/C Donatas Motiejunas with the 14th pick. 2011-2012 Houston Rockets Roster: PG: Lowry | Dragic SG: Lee | Williams SF: Beasley | Budinger PF: Patterson | Motiejunas C: Kanter | J.Hill/ Thabeet
Kevin Martin Luis Scola Brad Miller #38 pick To the Wizards JaVale McGee Rashard Lewis #5 Pick #18 pick To the Rockets
1) Luis Scola and Goran Dragic to the Sacramento Kings for the #7 pick and a large trade exception. With the #7th pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets select Jan Vesely. 2) Courtney Lee to the Chicago Bulls for Omer Asik and the 28th/30th pick of the draft. 3) With the #14th pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets select Donatas Motiejunas. 4) #23rd, #30th and Jordan Hill to the Washington Wizards for the #18th pick. With the #18th pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets select Alec Burks. 5) With the #28th pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets select Reggie Jackson. 6) With the #38th pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets select Jeremy Tyler. Lowry/Jackson Martin/Burks Vesely/Budinger Patterson/Motiejunas Asik/Hayes/Tyler Gives the Rockets a lot of young talent to further build upon.. it should be a team that only gets better over the years. Obviously, it would depend on a few of these players falling a few spots in the draft. Also, the Rockets would have some flexibility.. I would think hard about calling New Orleans for CP3 offering Lowry/Martin/picks, then standing still until Dwight becomes an UFA and we can pitch the CP3/Dwight pairing to him.
LOL. I know we see some things similarly, but this is getting eerie. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6184476&postcount=10 Guess #1 is the one I like the most. Only difference is you have us taking Vesley and I had us taking Leonard with the 7th. Since then I've changed my mind to Marcus Morris. I like Vesley a lot too, but do you see anything beyond a very solid role player? Leonard I see in the same category. Meanwhile with Morris I think he has the potential of developing into an elite shot creator. Brandon Roy caliber talent, although obviously different type of player.
It's hard for me to really comment as obviously I haven't watched extensive footage on Jan. Perhaps I fell victim to OHMSS campaign for him, but I started to really come around to him once I realized how athletic he was. I like him as a defensive stopper for us with the hope that he could grow into more.. but I'd have to think he's going to be an absolute terror on the break. With Kevin Durant coming into his own, I wouldn't mind rolling the dice on a 6'11" athletic SF with great defensive potential. To be honest, I actually thought hard about Jimmer in this spot. His shooting ability is pretty unreal and not something that you have every year.. but we have a bigger hole at the SF spot and you might be able to get a quality backup PG with Jackson in the late 1st. I'm not as high on Morris, but that's partly because of the team having Patterson and the chance Motiejunas could be had at #14 (I don't think he's a center either.. PF). I will say he definitely fits the Rockets model.. highly efficient/productive veteran college player with a great pedigree. Early in the evaluation process, I commented that I thought he would be a Rocket -- fit the profile to a T. (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6025697&postcount=6) Alec Burks would probably be my wildcard at #14 if we were unable to move up.
Yes, we have a hole at SF and C, but our REAL holes(not positional) are shot blocker and shot creator. While Vesley can turn into everything you described, he does not fit the bill for either. I am a firm believer in the BPA draft strategy, when we are talking about using the picks we have. However, when you trade up or down, you have to be targeting a need. I will guarantee you MARCUS Morris will be a NBA small forward. His brother Markieff will be a stretch 4. I've posted this before, Marcus is the one in the blue: <object width="384" height="216" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="ESPN_VIDEO" data="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all"><param name="movie" value="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="wmode" value="opaque"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="allowNetworking" value="all"/><param name="flashVars" value="id=6521817"/></object> He is a SF and a shot creator. Our biggest or at least second biggest need.
