Why are you always trying to pick a fight with me? I never said Dirk was a post player. I clearly said he has a skill set combined with a physical stature that puts him in a league of his own which makes him better than Lebron for any team. Lebron has been in the league for how many years? He's not even the threat of a smaller 6'6 Jamal Crawford when it come to a mid-range jump shot or being a consistent 3pt threat. Dirk is 7ft with a release point that nobody in this league can defend. They put a 6'8 Haslem with a muscular body, what does Dirk do? A spin move drive with high release off the backboard. Dirk will drive by guys that are not only shorter but pretty fast as defenders. Lebron will never pose that kind of threat because being a 7ft outside, midrange with amazing competitive handles is much better than being able to drive to the rim and doing a tomahawk jam.

The point is the man has never been good on defense. It doesn't matter if you score thirty if you give up thirty. LeBron doesn't have as great of a game as Dirk. OK, LeBron has NEVER been a good shooter. But LeBron plays on both ends. Also you underestimate the slasher's game. Driving past everyone and getting to the rim is just as good as having a great midrange game.

That's like saying if you can't shoot threes you suck. Everyone plays a different way dude. Otherwise we'd be calling Reggie Miller and Ray Allen the greatest two players to ever play the game.

And I still stand by this: A healthy Yao is truly unstoppable. The man shoots as many unblockable shots as Nowitzki does. And in the end, it's the same two points.

You make it sound like Dirk is playing in the NBA Finals ever year and Lebron has been leading teams to 40 wins and first round exits. This absolutely has NOT been proven.

In fact, what I've seen is that if Dirk is playing at the absolute top of his game, he can lead his team to a championship. If Lebron is playing at the absolute top of his game, he can certainly carry his team to the NBA Finals. We've yet to see what happens if he actually plays his best in the Finals. But at the same point in Dirk's career, he was 0-1 in the Finals and had just committed one of the biggest choke jobs in Finals history, losing a series when his team was minutes away from being up 3-0.

I really hate that so many fans seem to only remember the basketball that's been played in the last week, and not anything that came before it.

Would this great player have led the Mavs to the title past the Bulls and Rockets teams that Barkley and Malone lost to? Winning a title in a completely different era doesn't make you better than a player that couldn't win one in a past era. Especially when that "losing" player has better numbers than you and is arguably superior to you on both sides of the court.

Dirk isn't besting Jordan or Hakeem for a title either. He better be happy LeBron went into a shell or he wouldn't have gotten this one.

If Lebron James stayed in Cleveland, he probably would have been judged as the better player than Nowitzki when it's all said and done.

His personal accomplishments and awards, as well as his winning regular seasons and conference finals appearances, his physical talent, etc. already put him ahead of Nowitzki. Not having a championship would have been a minor stain that could be blamed on the Cavs organization more than James himself.

But I think his move to the Heat really clouds his long-term "legacy". If he doesn't win a ring or two or three... after choosing to form arguably the most talented team in the league, history will remember him more for that failure than anything else. Similar to how McGrady will be remembered as the player with superior physical talent who couldn't get out of the first round.
