Its a beautiful area for outdoors things. River rafting, mountain biking, skiing, hiking. Someone already mention Garden of the Gods. There is also Airforce Academy. A nice resort called The Broadmoor. And the Olympic Training Center. Not too far there is a train to Silverton. Some interesting mining museums. One thing... people are a bit scary there (perhaps because of the Focus on Family HQ). Odd I would notice that, as Houston and area isn't exactly a hot bed of liberalism. One other observation... restaurants there are horrible. Dennys might qualify as fine dining there. I have tried all kinds of food there... Chinese, Mexican, Pizza... all have been the worst restaurant of that type I have experienced. Heck, even the Dennys was bad. I'd suggest sticking to brewpubs if you go out.
"how about a nice game of chess?" "later. let's play global thermonuclear war." "fine" You can visit the WOPR at the mountain that was NORAD...and play some games. and, don't forget to ask the NORAD folks why we're at DEFCON 3...cause of that little stunt you pulled. doh!
You're partially correct there. It's the chains that suck....avoid if possible. Mexican food is sketchy, but there's some jewels to be found. Pizza? Some decent places. Chinese isn't real bad, but there's better Thai places. Fried chicken? fugetaboutit.
