"Here's an update Houston proposed deal: Houston gets: Asik, Korver, 28 and 30 Chicago get: Lee, Jordan Hill and a future 1st Says Bulls would like to keep one of the picks Edit: That's just a horrible deal for the Bulls" I'd be cool with that. Sounds like a sweet deal actually.
Who knows, just because this isn't a top heavy draft doesnt mean there isn't Lee/Bud caliber players late in the draft. If Morey wants 4 first rounders in this draft, then I want those 4 first rounders because I will be damned in Morey doesn't have a knack for drafting good players.
In my mind, Asik is so overrated man.... It just shows how week the NBA is today, at the Center position, any decent 7 feet tall, good motor, a lot of heart, good blocker, has a trade value of a starting SG, a bench SF and PF plus a future 1st round pick, unreal. And if you go on those forums, these Chicago fans say that even that 2nd deal is a NO NO NO for them. This is how much they love this guy, COMING OFF THE BENCH. Problem is, we would be trading for a "starting center", TO play 30+ mins. These comments on there sum up pretty well what I think about him. "Is Asik REALLY that good? I think we really started to see the cracks in his foundation in the playoffs. The guy has bricks for hands and poor instincts when he gets the ball under the rim. I guess I'm just saying that we'll have to give something to get something." "I love Omer Asik, but a lot of people are clearly homers. His value after this upcoming season is probably close to zero since there will be plenty of team throwing 7-8 mil/yr at him with a 3-4 years contract. It is almost a guarantee that we wont match under that circumstance." I like him, just not as much as 95% of the NBA fans, I guess. PeAcE
Now, the following random trade idea may just stem from my hatred of watching Terrence Williams and Thabeet play basketball (if you can call it that), however, here goes: Rockets trade: Scola Jordan Hill T Williams Thabeet Washington Bullets trade: Rashard Lewis 6th pick in the draft. I know, I know -- Lewis has the worst contract in the league and will ruin team chemistry by Tony Parkering all of his team mates' lady friends -- and he can't really play anymore... However, we're not going to get much out of Thabeet, Hill, and T will next season, and it would be great to free up those roster spots for actually productive players. Also, while Rashard is making 20 million next season, the year after that is only partially guaranteed (9 mill), so Houston can cut him after next season and get away only paying what they would have been paying Scola for that year anyway. I hate to give up Scola, but the combination of his contract, his knee and the presence on the team of Hayes and Patterson make me think we can move on without him. Plus, Houston can get the 6th pick from Washington and get a good young big prospect (you can imagine your favorite here, just know I am thinking of the Bismack as the center piece of any such trade scenario). So, the trade doesn't really cost Houston very much salary cap wise, clears the roster of under-performing duds, and gets them a pick that allows an actual center prospect to be brought in. I think Washington would do it, but if you had to give up a pick back to them, I would say do it -- but the wizards have to throw in a supply of salt peter for us to secretly place in all of Lewis's food.
2nd year seven footer who isnt a stiff. Pretty valuable imo. Look how Gortat broke out with more playing time.
Not worth Lee, Bud AND a future first round pick. There are plenty of bigs in the draft, maybe not as good as Asik but still.
He was in the Bulls counter offer. If we did the original trade I still wouldn't like it, if we're rebuilding then we need to be keeping our picks.
In a draft loaded with good role players, we have a good chance of doing just that. Rebuilding. More than likely, Morey is accumulating picks to try and trade up in this draft.
Budinger is nothing special. By looking at the Bullsboard most of them wouldn't do the deal even if we include Budinger and a future 1st. Everyone here seems to want Asik for free. Well, no wonder we haven't gotten any free agents apart from Trevor Ariza and Brad Miller and Stromile Swift. And even two of those took paycuts to come here...
