The issue with Green Latern is that a lot of the movie HAS TO BE in CG and I just don't know how they can make such a world anymore realistic then what you saw. GL is a space epic and, unlike Avatar, a lot of the space scenes can't take place on a jungle or earth type atmosphere or anything that won't need HEAVY CG effects. I will say, I think most of the film will take place on earth but a significant portion will need CG and hopefully they will clean up some of the aspects that need it. To be perfectly honest, if they didn't include that much CG, and so much of it in space, then the movie will fail miserably.
^ THis is the problem with a lot of special effects movies. The trailers and pre-release teaser footage often doesn't look very good since in most cases post production is being done almost up until the day it is released.
I think fans understand that a lot has to be in CG but it isn't even good CG. I disagree that you can't make a space epic look more realistic look at Star Trek; Rango looks more realistic than this. Some of it looks like it is unnecessary CG too. From the trailer even the Humanoid Lanterns are CG.
Well to be fair, the luminescent jungles of Pandora as well as the Na'vi, were all CG. Wasn't too much about that film that was actually real. But then Avatar had one of the best blockbuster film directors and an open checkbook to boot.

Through the first half of that, I thought it was a trailer to a video game. The alien CGI is so fake looking.
This is turning into a crappy looking like CGI game. That light green mask look totally horrendous. Should went with a darker green like the KATO mask. The biggest turn off is once again is Ryan freaking Reynolds. Totally wrong choice.
I hope that I'm surprised by this movie, because I'm being set up to be disappointed. The Green Lantern is a great super hero and deserves a good representation on film.
I'm almost hoping it fails, I dunno why though. There looks to be some really good elements, mainly in the space scenes. But the earth stuff seems just so pedestrian and uninspiring.
The problem with DC comics is that they make their heroes so powerful you have to find some gimmicky weakness (ex.Kryptonite, Color Yellow, etc.)
Only in the movies that for some reason fail to use the numerous cast of villains that are just as powerful as Superman/GL.
Oh my. One of my favorites as a kid, but this looks like many terabytes of epic failure. As if the rendering machine itself was yellow.
Couldn't be as ordinary as Thor could it? Luckily I like pretty much any superhero movie. Even Hancock and Spidey 3 and X 3. With the only exception being that last Superman movie (Returns?), because that one was just trash with no villain.
