Finally saw ep 9. Great ep.

-Shae....didn't like the way they cast her. I pictured her completely different. More petite, way hotter.

-Disappointed that they didn't play out the battle with Tyrion at the head of the Van. It's a GREAT scene in the book. I get it though- money and time.

-The Twins was awesome. Lord Frey was younger than I expected- I thought he would look like Maester Aemon in age.

-So glad they kept 'halfman!' in as a battle chant. I love that in the book.

    -Joffrey is awesome.

There are no main characters in this series. There are point of view characters that tell the story from different parts of the world.

Uber future book spoiler (there seem to have been a couple so far):
Did Bronn say he had been north of the wall for work?? I wonder if that will tie in to future books.

Totally agree on Shae... She should definitely be not foreign, hotter, younger as well as less aggressive and sure of herself. I also pictured with either blonde or light brown hair guess they wanted to give her more "character."

Actor playing Joffrey continues to be awesome, as well as the actress playing Arya.

Incidently the guy playing Lord Frey is supposedly 88 years old!

Lastly, I dont recall Bronn having mentioned he traveled north of the Wall in the Books.

    Riiiight.....

    (possible uber future spoiler)

He said it during their drinking game in Tyrion's tent in episode 9.

GRRM has shared future info with the writers/producers. So this could be a hint at a connection with someone on the wall (is he a deserter?) or Wildlings. It may not have been in the book, but since they corroborate with GRRM, it might be some kind of foreshadowing. Or it may be nothing.

You might want to spoiler your response to my spoiler.

Fun seeing GOT virgins' reactions and theories.

My friend swears up and down that Ned is alive and the Ned that got beheaded was a 'shapeshifter' because they mentioned that early in the season. It's feasible if you don't know the books. In fact, I liked the theory as Ned somehow being alive somewhat in warg form somewhere. This friend is one of those know-it-all types, so it's driving me crazy not being able to spoiler him and burst his bubble. :D

is that where the book ends?

jamie lannister tied to a post
tyrian on his way to be the kings hand
john snow riding out with the rest of the rangers
rob stark the king of hte north
    danerys targaryan the dragon

since the wall is in the north does that mean it is part of the northern kingdon? is that even important?

joffrey is going to kill tyrian for b-slapping him

the commander of the wall had a son, was that before or after he took his oath?

if i was rob stark and i was declared king of the north id use jaime as tender to get my sisters back and fortify my positions and just let the lannisters try and invade the north

as far as danerys, that was pretty awesome and for some reason i have the idea that the dragons and the wolves will have some sot of interaction, just not sure if it will be as allies or enemies

one more thing, really disappointed they didn't even show stannis' army, is renly and stannis part of the same army or are they each trying to gain the crown for themsleves? is that a spoiler? i know they mentioned it but was unlcear if they were in t together or not

WTF does he think this is?
****ing True Blood? Does he think Ser Gregor is a fairy or something?

Also, about the bard/singer who got his tongue cut out...
Is he Marillion, the guy who went to the Vale with Tyrion, Cat & co? He can't be in the books, but the actor looks like Marillion..

i would love to hear more about the
    shapeshifter
    reference mentioned earlier.

I dont see it being a far fetched theory based on what I know about
    what happens to Lady Stark
    and the fact that
there might be a war with the undead

    Spoilers from books after GOT:
Shape-shifters = Wargs. They can control animals. They aren't shape-shifters like in True Blood.

True, there undead on both sides, but I don't think Ned can manage with a decapitated head.

I thought the ned-as-a-warg had some legs; there is a wildling warg who gets killed and lives on in his eagle. But you never see or hear about ned being a warg, and we have his povs. I think we would know if he warged into an animal.

    sure but...
his head is on a ****ing spike, presumably there until the flesh rotted away. There's no Other/White Walker or fire priest available to zombiefy or resurrect him.
    Also,
he wasn't resurrecte between book1 and book5, it would be a bit cheesy for him to all of a sudden reappear... "Hello everybody, Ned's back!"

What animal might he have warged into? The Stark kids have their Wolves, Ned doesn't really have anything.

thanks, as a GOT virgin I am simply saying nothing's impossible in a mideaval fantasy world where the things that happen above happen...

granted I wasn't aware of the rules of
    wargs wights and whitewalkers
    but I am intrigued...

I simply cannot help but cheat and look ahead on the ice and fire wiki.

I did the same thing during LOST

A pigeon or a cat? Bran can warg into different animals, as can Valimyr Sixskins (sp). I think Bran even warged into Ghost at one point.

I don't buy the whole theory. I'm just saying it WAS feasible if GRRM chose to write it into the book at the time.

If there was a shapeshifter involved
And I can say with complete confidence there wasn't
then the unknown shapeshifter would have been the one who died and not Ned? In which case where is Ned? If Ned was the shapeshifter then who was the person who died that looks exactly like him? That theory makes no sense.

Marillion is the bard who lost his tongue, apparently a change they decided to make as Joffrey does do that same thing to a different bard for singing that song later in the series. I guess it saves them from keeping his character on the payroll until he shows up again, and they can always cast a different singer to fill the same role.

I thought the dragons looked great, I was really worried they might look bad. Still not a fan of the changes to Shae though. Her personality does not match the books portrayal at all.

From last episode, it's also odd that they changed the numbers of men in the different Stark and Lannister armies. It was supposed to be 12,000 Starks led by Roose Bolton who engaged Tywin and Tyrion, and were beaten, but retreated. Robb took 5,000 cavalry and led Jaime into an ambush to capture him, then with the help of the armies that were under siege at Riverrun they attacked the split up Jaime's forces that were on different sides of the river surrounding the castle and surprised and defeated them at night. That whole battle was simply reduced to Robb saying it was over before the Lannisters knew what happened.

I'm wondering if the dragons are going to be as undersized as the direwolves. I'm basically imagining flying, fire breathing Komodo Dragons.

Reading this through- there's another possibility for the
'shapeshifter ned' crackpot theory- the faceless men. Syrio= Faceless Man =Dead Ned?!?!

I'm certainly not going to tell my friend about that and feed his fire, though.

They will eventually be riding size. But they grow slowly in the books.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that Umber was pretty much the only Stark bannerman to be introduced.

Possible Book 2 and 3 Spoilers...
Surely Roose Bolton and Rickard Karstark will be introduced in Season 2. Though, I feel like they missed the opportunity to properly introduce Rickard once Jamie was captured. At the very least it would have been pretty quick to mention Jamie killed two of his sons. Karstark's beheading by Robb would be a pretty powerful scene, so they better not eliminate his character.

    Adding on to Xerobull's post...

in some instances they can become quite massive as well such as Balerion who many thought/think Dany's dragon Drogon is the reincarnation of. Here is the wiki on Balerion:
