Also, I don't think I saw footage of the Mavs in the locker room at halftime during the entire series. It was always Spoelstra and the Heat at halftime. Maybe ABC didn't find Carlisle and his halftime team talks compelling enough, or maybe Carlisle didn't want them in there.(Doubtful since the NBA runs everything w/regards to camera crews/locker rooms). Good behind the scenes footage nonetheless.
This vid made me tear up when I saw the loving embrace between Terry and Cuban and Marion and his mother. The comraderes of this team is amazing and it shows on the court all year long.
I'm dead serious. The way Marion's mother was crying for her son was touching. Jet and Cuban exchanging "i love you" is a rare sight.
I was impressed by Pat Riley visiting the Mavs locker room and congratulating Carlisle. That's class. Marion talking about how it took 12 years to get to this moment, it's a glimpse into what this ring to a lot of these veteran guys.
Talking about Marion and his mother, I didn't realize till I saw that video that his mom is ALWAYS on the jumbotron at the AAC during games. During timeouts, they hold dance contests among fans in the stands to see who has the most "spirit" etc. Well, Marion's mum is almost always in the competition. That lady dances her bum off in the stands. It's hilarious to watch but I can't believe I never paid attention to the fact that she wore the same players jersey at every game.
Hate the Mavs all you want, but this is what championships are made of. A owner who cares about his team and players, a franchise player who is loyal to his team and city, a group of role players with character and who push and back each other up. I want this for our Rockets... I haven't seen this in a long time
