So what compelled him to continue starting both players and play them 30+ minutes over the allegedly superior Budinger and Hill? He's either an incompetent coach who was simultaneously not committed to winning or developing the young players, or he was coaching to win because he believed they were our best options. Which is it? I'm talking about how you attach importance to our improved record when we traded Battier, but no importance to how our record sunk when Hill was starting in place of Hayes. Or, more generally, how the younger, more physically gifted, higher-scoring Hill who was supposed to replace Hayes in the rotation was generally awful throughout the year. Same deal with Terrence Williams. Somehow, that's all irrelevant, eh? Uh ... what? Did I say anything about Martin+Yao? Do they even show up in stats? This is like saying a list of PPG is "goofy crap" because some random player in the league hardly played. Obviously, the bigger sample, the more useful it is. Yet another bizarro critique from you. Nothing particularly controversial or opinionated was expressed by me in this thread, and yet you're still finding something to take exception to. I thought I gave sufficient warning in the first post that people who are averse to numbers should just click away. I did that fully expecting responses like yours an saleem's. Too bad you didn't take the hint. p.s. Its spelled "arithmetic".
Understood, I was just letting you know (to the best of my knowledge) where that notion comes from. It's a sad state of affairs when we can't even trust our own newspaper writers to give us the scoop. Richard Justice went from not giving two craps about the Rockets to suddenly writing about every little thought Les Alexander had.. makes you wonder.
I didn't read to see if these pairings were somehow made independent of the other 3 players on the court, but if not then my guess is budinger, scola and martin were most likely the trio that was most often playing with the pairing of chuck + kyle which would lower their defensive rating?
Ok, KM is nowhere to be found, first off. Lowry+Scola, Lowry+Bud, Chuck+Scola, Chuck+Bud are ALL top-350 combos. But Lowry+Chuck is 1880th??? Crazy.
