Because we need size, athleticism and defense/shotblocking.

I do get the feeling that through all of this, Motiejunas is getting underrated by draft pundits. Like Patterson last year, he's falling victim to the phenomenon of being overanalyzed. People have heard of him for so long that now he's old hat. Guys like Biyombo, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Marshon Brooks...they're seeing their stocks shoot up because they're shiny new toys. People haven't been picking their games apart for years like they have with Motiejunas.

I still think, even on the Rockets' draft board, Valanciunas Kanter and Vesely are rated higher, in that order. But if both Biyombo and Motiejunas were available at 14...it would shock everybody for the Rockets to take Motiejunas but would it really be that outrageous? I for one would admit that I was wrong in rating Biyombo higher and just move on with life, but many in the league would pan the move.

This workouts had no effect on my thoughts on both Biyombo or Motiejunas. The workout setting was horrific and did nothing to display both of these young players overall games. Both would've been much, much better off in 5 on 5 setting, where they could've shown more of their strengths. Specially Biyombo, who's strength is on the defensive end of the court. This workout basically showed Biyombo's biggest weakness, which is shooting. That's why I believe this workouts will have little to no impact when it comes to evaluating this two talents.

At least this is a change of pace from those workout videos where the prospects are hitting every shot. I can understand why Biyombo would struggle, but Motiejunas must be pretty pissed at himself.

Working out in front of hundreds of scouts and GMs may not mean much in presenting something new, but it does demonstrate a small sliver of a player's mettle and ability to perform in pressure situations. The way Montiejunas played in this video shows at least that he might be soft. A Bargnani type of player.

Biyombo and Motiejunas are who we thought they were. Biyombo, not good on offense, a beast on defense. Motiejunas....neither.

Acojonados is the right word? Frightened, awestruck, whatever...

Seriously, the whole situation is ridiculous, in my opinion. Motiejunas is a well known good shooter and he's shooting airballs there... And I can see the murmuring: "I told you, he's a bust!".

I took 2 clear things from this workout:

    1. Pressure affects him too much, lacks self confidence and security. That's a character issue and it is analyzable.

    2. He has improved his body, a lot. He's on the to road to build a serious NBA PF body.

Apart from that, they had a tough time in front of all the NBA and I felt bad for themselves.

Unnecessary, especially with Moti. He should have played the games, his stock would have risen.

The nerves issue IMO is a non-starter. I can sort of see it as an issue if the team drafting wants the player to contribute immediately and need him to contend(i.e. Courtney Lee, Sam Cassell types). But since we're not contending anyway, we can just allow players to "grow up" over time. Besides, if a player has performed admirably in real games, isn't that proof enough?

That said, I hope either or both of these players can drop to us. It would make me feel a lot better about the upside of our 14th pick. Whoever he may be.

Yeah,it is going to be a tough decision for DM to make with a raw but intriguing Biyombo.

Motiejunas is very talented. He is also soft, has a bad attitude, and a poor work ethic. He's also not what the Rockets need.

Shermadini would be a much better pick than Motiejunas.

I saw Thabeet in the mall posting on twitter. I struck up a conversation with him while he was waiting to buy a cookie at Mrs. Fields. After small talk I challenged him to a game of 21.... we piled into his Expedition, and then drove to a park... I took him down 21-0... scored all my points in the paint. Thought he would be ashamed, instead he shrugged his shoulders and screamed "I am rich *****!".... and drove away.

Nice enough guy, but a bit of a stiff.... think he had Slowmile Swift with him.

    Damn.:p

Why did we ever trade for this guy? That is really discouraging. I believe it so much that pics or video aren't needed.

This was staged by Morey so that Donatas Motiejunas drops to us. It's classic value depreciation. Very Machiavellian.

Word is Donatas Motiejunas did a heavy lifting session right before his workout Saturday, which is why he shot so poorly. Unfortunate error.

If The Bomb somehow falls to us, and Morey passes on him, I will be extremely dissapointed.
