"The hero of Canton the man they call ...James" That was hilarious.....just now watched a recorded episode where Mal and Wash get kidnapped by that Russian and tortured.....greatness. DD
So you're saying i gave up an episode too soon? Bullardfan-What about historical/epic films? Dreamshook- The point is, it won't be funny if i hear it while i'm watching it and i have to google the damn word and then go " oh i get it! hahaha!" I guess i'm just a ruh tard
"James"?!? What kind of Browncoat are you? It's "Jayne". JAYNE: Well, I say as a rule that girlfolk ain't to be trusted. RIVER: Jayne is a girl's name. JAYNE: Well Jayne ain't a girl. She starts on that "girl's name" thing, I'm a show her good an' all I got man parts.
I see the Cowboy Bebop(CB) comparison alot and don't agree with it. I only watched a bit of CB, but the western motif wasn't as strong as it is in Firefly. Specifically the clothes and towns. I don't remember many backwater planets in CB. I also don't remember a police state government in CB. Living out in a free environment away from government control was a key component to Firefly that I didn't pick up on in CB.
It's even funnier the second time, when the guitarist starts singing: "No, this must be what going mad feels like."
if they're historical films then of course i want that realistic. but i like my fantasy/sci-fi to have attractive ppl.
They only have like 15 episodes right? When does greatness hit? Maybe I'll try to watch it again on Science Channel, if it's still on.
Never seen that show, CB was more about Spike and his past as opposed to Mal's past not being all that relevant except for confirming his motives for his actions.
I remember I saw Serenity first and thought it was really good, so I went back and watched the series. Was blown away. Firefly was pure awesomeness and it's a f--king shame it got cancelled, judging by the trash that's on network TV today. Are they ever going to make a 2nd film?
they aren't exactly the same but they are similar. space westerns, some character similarities (genius tech girl, ex-soldier, washed up or under-achieving group of ppl picking up odd jobs and barely making ends meet. and the spike aspect is no doubt strong in the beginning and end but for the most part it's just day to day life of the crew. (kinda like firefly). never saw Outlaw Star. that's an anime from the 80's right?
Oh, I had no idea these were new episodes. I thought the thing had been cancelled and just had a cult following. I know these Science Channel episodes are in HD. Too cornfusing. Well, whatever I watched, it wasn't all that.
I guess I'm the only alcoholic that read the thread title and thought that you were talking about the tea-flavored vodka?
Despite kicking major ass, Serenity didn't do well at the box office, and thats all the studios care about. The show just never got a a mainstream audience and that lack of an audience followed it to the theaters. Its a shame too, because it was a great show, and an even better movie. Joss Whedon is writing and directing the new avengers movie. If it does really well, maybe he'll get a little power to push for a serenity sequel. Not likely but one can dream.
It would be really difficult to do a second film... mainly because both Adam Baldwin (Jayne) and Nathan Fillion (Mal) have tv series they are both involved in - though I think next season maybe the last Chuck. Morena Baccarin (Inara) is involved with V... is that coming back?? Gina Torres is supposed to be in that new show Suits on USA. Poor Summer can't get a show to stick. At any rate... no there are no new episodes on the Science Channel. Firefly has 14 episodes and one movie... though the original pilot is two hours long... so you get 17 total hours of The Verse. There is also two (three book) comic series (written by Jed and Joss Whedon). That's all there is of Firefly. My suggestion... watch either Our Mrs Reynolds or Jaynestown if you have tried to watch before and were disappointed. Once you've seen those two go back and watch the rest. Those two episodes are very amusing and are engaging to any audience.
