He might be a bit of a knucklehead but that's how a lot of young players are in the NBA. McGee would be a top pick if he was in this year's draft... He's young, already a top shot blocker, has maybe the best reach in the NBA(top 3 all time on DX), and arguably the most athletic center in the league. His per 36 last season was actually 13, 10, and 3. He doesn't seem like a bad person just a bit immature. You might not want him on your team but I would gladly welcome him here, especially with our vets on the team.
Wow. I've mae fun of a lot of people suggesting idiotic trades, but cheers to you buddy! Somehow you managed to cram 3 awful suggestions in one post. Congrats human facepalm generator.
Don't believe everything you read. I find it hard to believe that they'll get more than Martin + #14 for the #2.
there's really no1 in the draft worth trading core pieces on this team for, except maybe irving and kanter, but that's a stretch. unless, we're trying to strategize purely for the long term, then it makes sense to move martin, scola, or both because our record will be absolutely putrid after we do.
Only Ellis would make sense for them, but pairing him up with Rubio? Don't know about that. They should keep #2, Kyrie or Derrick are worth more imo.
No offense, but I have heard that from a lot of drafts where players were much better than the scouts initially thought. DD
I would say that in a draft like last years(strong draft at the top), Williams would go around 5-7 range, possibly higher depending if the team believes he can make the transition to the 3 spot, like his insisting he can. I do disagree in the highlighted part. This draft is weak in term of star power at the top. But it has good depth. So no the #14th pick doesn't equal a #22nd pick in a "normal" draft. Also, just because Orlando offered Gortat for Martin doesn't mean thats how the whole league views Martin's value in the same way. Plus if you think about it, Gortat was the only asset that Orlando had, outside of Howard, that would remotely make any sense to offer in a trade proposal for Kevin Martin. They tried to swing for the fences in hope that our need for a center would entice us into trading a greater talent for a lesser talent that fills in a large need. The Rockets don't have something you can really call a core. Even Morey said it, in an interview not to long ago. No one on the roster is untouchable, and even though the top of the draft is lacking in sure fire 'Stars', there's still some good players that would be considered an upgrade to the current "core" the rockets have.
What's the basis for your certainty? I'm amazed people here think Martin, a top ten scorer in the league, is worth nothing more than a #2 pick in a weak draft.
I was sad depressed myself when i typed this K-mart is like shareef abdur rahim to me, only at shooting guard, cause yes, he is a great scorer, but our team still not in the playoffs, pretty musch liek adbur rahim's teams.
Clearly Martin is the problem. It's not like we're hampered by having our team built around the best center in the NBA and he gets injured.
He is not a problem but he is not an answer either, he is a guy that gets his, but his impact on winning is not all that great. If you can flip him, you do it. He has peaked...and what you see is what you get. DD
Good responding post. I still think Martin and #14 won't convince Minny to give up their #2 though. I agree Orlando's offer of Gortat for Martin isn't an absolute reflection of Martin's perceived value around the league. But then you'd also have to say that GSW's offer of Ellis or Washington's offer of McGee don't necessarily dictate the value of the #2 pick.
