ON whey protein. dont think i could gain weight/muscle without it, for a reasonable cost.
3cup whole milk, 2 scoop ON whey, banana or 2.
tried NO-xplode doesnt work... too much of a caffeine high. really regret buying it.
thinking of trying creatine monohydrate next.

    I take
-Jack3d/ N.o Explode: its like a supplement with nothing but energy for your workout (creatine, caffine, ect.)
-Pure Creatine: I would take alittle less than what they say on the bottle depending on your size
-BCAA (Branched chain amino acids): helps with recovery for the next workout
    -Protein

    Here's what i take
Cardio days (if its a crazy cardio workout like insanity):
    • Multivitamins
    • Jacked (one scoop)
    • BCAA (Branch chain amino acids) helps with recovery
    • 1 scoops of protien (25 grams)

    Lifting days
    • Multivitamins
    • Creative before and after workouts
    • Jacked (one or two scoops depending on intensity of workout)
    • BCAA before and after
    • 2 scoops about 50 grams of protien

Just look at pure whey protein as powdered chicken, tuna, etc. It's a source of protein for the most part, a way to replace the typical protein-packed meal. Usually it comes with vitamins and extra stuff that helps promote muscle growth, but it's nothing groundbreaking. It'll still come down to your workout and overall nutrition, whether you gain muscle or not.

You could use it to lose weight, but only if you're using it to replace a meal that would have contained more calories. It doesn't really come with ingredients that promote weight loss like some of the pills out there.

so basically its not going to hurt to have a shake after a workout. hmm might have to look into. i assume you just mix the powder with water?

It not only does NOT hurt you but its extremely good for you. The main positives about whey protein is that its clean protein your muscles need for recovery that gets transported quickly throughout your body. Drinking a protein shake after you workout ensures that your muscles are getting proper nutrition and more importantly clean protein when it begins its recovery. You can mix it with milk and put fruit and yogurt in it and all that jazz but it takes longer for your body to break that down so using water is the most ideal option.

Also, stand alone protein supplements are not truly adequate meal replacements those are mass gainers so you still need to eat a meal after you work out. I usually drink my protein whenever I get back from the gym then eat something about 30 minutes afterwards to allow it to digest

It shouldnt hurt from a health standpoint, but what are you trying to accomplish? Weight loss or muscle gain? You have to pay attention to the labels. Some are pure whey protein, some are protein+ other ingredients that total a lot of clories, some are lighter on the calories, etc..

Eh, don't get too caught up in supplements. You're really throwing your money away unless you plan on being an elite athlete. If you're working out just to stay fit, eat mor chiken.

ON Whey Vanilla Creme, best protein IMO. Tastes like a creme shake to me and it goes down pretty smooth.

    thanks for the feedback guys.

not looking to accomplish anything much other than just overall health/weight loss. i was more just curious about whey protein more than anything. i will say i'm not on a strict diet or anything, i'm not coming home and loading up on tuna, chicken, or cashews or anything. i was just trying to get some more info, it sounds like it would be beneficial regardless, as it would help increase my protein intake, i guess the question is do i feel dropping the $$$ down for the whey is worth it.

Yeah you'd have to figure out if you'd be spending more per drink or per a regular meal. If you stay away from the whey with loaded with stuff they shouldn't be as expensive. Go to walmart and check out what they have. I buy one of the ones they carry, about 15 bucks for like 25 scoops, so I'm good for just over 3 weeks, since I drink one a day....but that one has a few other things, pure whey should be cheaper. And for me it's also about convenience. No worrying about cooking or going out for at least that meal of the day.

What the hell is clean protein?

This post is so full of GNC bull**** its not even funny. There's nothing in medical science that suggests whey protein is better for you than an equivalent weight of lean meat protein. And the breakdown of milk/fruit/yogurt is on the order of less than 60 seconds; it's a moot point for the purposes of nutritional absorption.

yeah, change what you eat. most weight loss pills target your water weight which is short term and cant imagine it being healthy.

yeah i cut out all fast food, soda and im starting to eat lighter and more lean foods. not really targeting weight loss pills because as you stated above, they are only good for short term. Was wondering is there any supplements to take to help boost metabolism or boost fat burn etc...
