What most logo designers are trying to strive for now-a-days are timeless logos. While the style itself does look a bit outdated, the symbolism present in the logo will never really fade. (Well, some of the logos in there)
Timeless though is a matter of both the endurance of the logo. For instance the Celtics logo is a product of its time but because of the endurance of that logo it seems timeless. It often seems like designers mistake 'retro' or 'historical' with 'timeless'.
It is awesome, but it feels like something is missing. Maybe it's just that the grey is too dark? Not sure.
Good find Yoda! Am I the only one who clicked on the links? Here's some work that two different guy's did, one of them back in 2009: Guy 1 (2011): Guy 2 (2009): I think both guys' works have potential, I would just make some minor changes (i.e., Make them look less "cartoonish" and I would still want to use the old school fonts and stay away from both colorways - first one just doesn't work for me and second one looks too much like the Cavs).

Please stop. You're starting to sound like tinman and his terrible simile references to the Rockets of old.
You've got to do better than that to beat tinman! Someone get tinman in here, and let him show you how its done!
