I must say, the last 4 games have been spectacular. Even the storylines are great. The big 3's first foray in the finals vs a team full of veterans who have never won anything and have been known for choking. Rematch of finals in 2006 etc.
I concur. The last one that was comparable was when Detroit crushed the Lakers to break up their dynasty.
So far, we've had 4 awesome games, but let's talk after games 6 & 7. This has a chance to be one for the ages.
I think the recent finals full of Spurs ball really lowered the bar. I can't remember any finals that was more difficult to watch than Spurs games.
The only teams the Spurs were fun to watch play against were the Lakers, Suns, and Grizzlies. As for the finals, the Lakers and the Spurs weren't entertaining last decade. The 90s will always be remembered as NBA basketball at its finest.
Great series for sure, but don't use the term "ever". Too many didn't watch Jordan, pre 2k-Finals, etc. and then come up with the term "ever".
David and Goliath storyline has been entertaining for me. I never thought I would ever feel good about rooting for the Mavs.
I didn't like any of the Bulls Finals. None of them went 7 and none were against really entertaining competition. The last one was close but it just wasn't very good and ended on a typical questionable push-off. Plus, Malone just seemed like a choker and I never believed for one second that the Jazz had a chance. This series is good because I legitimately have no idea who is going to win. The best Finals I remember were the '84 Lakers/Celtics (the anticipated Magic/Larry meeting) and the '88 Lakers/Pistons (esp. that game where Isiah scored 25 straight points on a broken ankle... the Pistons had that series locked but just had some bad luck/injuries).
I'm the same man... hated both teams coming into the series, now i have a new found respect for dirk/mavs
If it was Bulls vs Mavs I would be torn. Naturally I would levitate towards the Bulls b/c I like their team and coaching staff but damn Dirk has proven all the haters (myself included) DEAD wrong. Also, Kidd has always been one of my favorite players all the way back to his days at UC Berkeley.
I don't watch the NBA Finals unless it is the Houston Rockets, or if there is an underdog team that is winning than I'll be watching off and on. For the past 2 games, I've been watching from start to finish which is something I haven't done in a long time. Seeing Nowitzki become a bigger star in this series than LeBron is something to be toasted, I don't care who wins, just another close game(s) will do.
Is it just me or is Cuban's smurky mug missing from the TV screen. I can't remember seeing a shot of him during the finals games. That's what's making this finals enjoyable for me.
Yeah it's been great, but stern has been a little too obvious about it. Every game doesn't have to end with a dramatic comeback. Goodell can get away with it, in these superbowls lately- no potential 7 games to extend to, & no one ever suspects football anyway. But they're both getting carried away in this regard. I want a nice boring finals & superbowl again just so I can forget my skepticism for a little while.
not the greatest but pretty dam good. Houston's 1995 run was one of the best for me. The teams they went through, coming in low seeded, SWEEPING Shaq and the Magic. Barkley is dead wrong and deep down he knows it. MJ is lucky he never reached the finals that year.
