I think you guys think anyone over 7,0 foot is the answer at center. If we do not get a talented enough big men, we are not going to improve significantly in the standings.
He would not be "THE" answer, but he would be an improvement, if he is healthy. Hey what do you know? Another injury prone center, he would fit right in, with our main guy and his feet, our backup and his microfractured knees, and our 3rd year player still trying to find his heart. DD
An improvement but I don't want to see the Rockets weigh themselves down with bad contracts. You always fear the day injuries or old age catch up to the Rockets and we can't pursue quality free agents because of guys like Kaman. Not worth it, but this is similar to why I posed a question about BOgut. He will demand near max money in 3 years. Would it be worth possibly Isiaih Thomasing ourselves?
Kaman isn't very good. IMO, he was at his best in his third year when Cassell was starting at point. They gave him a few touches in the post to start the game, but after that his role was to rebound and defend. Nowadays, he's a black hole. He settles for too many midrange jumpers, which he doesn't convert at a good rate. He misses a lot of easy shots around the rim, just like Hayes. He often gets stripped when he posts because he dribbles excessively when backing his man down. Overall, he just tries to do too much. Defensively, he isn't clueless and doesn't lose his assignment often, but he is slow footed and not a leaper. Many of Kaman's weaknesses could be addressed with a smaller role. But with his major health concerns I would be disappointed if we traded for him at all.
I don't understand the thinking of people who want to acquire 29-31 year old centers for this team. McGrady isn't walking through that door, folks. Yao isn't walking through that door. The absolute best possible result a slight upgrade like Kaman could provide us with (and by the way, I'm only for sure allowing that he's an upgrade over Brad Miller at this point. I don't know that he'd beat out Chuck) is that we might barely squeak into the playoffs, thereby forfeiting our lottery pick. YAY! ANOTHER FIRST ROUND EXIT! This team doesn't need band aids. It needs to be rebuilt.
Basically this. No one questions Kaman’s offensive repertoire. He’s got great touch/footwork for a big man, but he’s just getting up there in age and often gets injured. I foresee Brad Miller 2.0 in his future.
I don't understand why the thought of this guy is so terrible? I don't want him sure, but he isn't a half-ass player as you all make him out to be. The guy made the all-star squad a year ago...
Just what we need another 7 fter riding pine with injuries next to Yao Ming. Kaman missed 50 games!! How about a center a that has played in over 90% of the games ?
