I sure hope he doesn't mean 2 mm... because that'd be one crazy precise doctor! and not worthy of a thread bump! congrats. my son's brith day was an awesome experience, though in retrospect could have gone better, too. just some of the hospital procedures and policies didn't much care for.
Just keep this in mind for 48 to 72 hours from now (and beyond)...you can't put the baby back in there for a little while to get some sleep. Good luck (mostly to your wife for now and to both of you later)! Take tons of pics!!! They'll be of great interest to your son/daughter when (s)he's a little bit older and they'll be some of your greatest treasures when you're a lot older.
I guess my point is that 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced could still be another 4 weeks. My wife was due 'any minute' for about 3 weeks.
yeah, i probably jumped the gun with this bump, but it's my first and i heard the word contraction, so i posted. doctor said anytime in the next two weeks. her normal doctor delivers on tuesdays, so we're hoping for the 21st which is also our anniversary. thanks for all the well wishes guys and gals.
Ah shucks! Oh well, two weeks to wait and wonder, if that long. Just remember, the babies don't come out all clean like they do in the tv shows and movies.
When is her next checkup? For both of my kids, that seemed to be the trigger for my wife. Both were delivered within 24 hours after the appointment.
Good luck to you both! Children are great, but grand children are even better (you can always send them home to their parents).
Way to get us excited THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID, GOOGLEROCKS. By the way, I credit you for starting the longstanding tradition of me going around CF.net finding possible TWSS's, sir... since you hate them so much. Good to know your kid is almost out. Let me know when he's completely out...
Mine, too. RM95 (I refuse to call you Groogrux or whatever the name is), My wife had to be put on breathine (I think that is what they called it) as she had Braxton-Hicks contractions at 20 weeks into it. As soon as she was taken off (which was like 35 weeks), she started having serious contractions. We went to the hospital 3 days in a row (with the first day being New Year's Eve 2008, then New Year's Day, etc.) Each time, the cervix hadn't dilated enough for them to induce labor. You talk about sucking out of the ass - try going to the hospital not once, not twice, but three times, hoping and praying that your baby is going to come. At any rate, congratulations and I hope for you and your wife that she is able to get her epidureal (sp?) in time. I'll pray that there are no complications here.
I went to the hospital two times before the actual delivery because of braxton hicks. However, we did not want our child to come those days because it was before full term and little boys need more time for their lungs to develop. My cervix was at 3 cm and I was 60% effaced the last visit and it was two weeks more before I had my son, thank goodness. Hospital visits suck though. Nothing like spending the night with an IV in your arm more nights than necessary.
