I'm loving all of the interest in tweaking the logo. But I wanted to know, what is the realistic chance of us changing something about our team. Because the Yao era is over, I hope that means the Chinese-inspired jereseys will be changed. What do y'all think?
i hear ya, post a link to a cool Rocket I could use. tonyt8605, i hope so, the clown costumes lasted 7 seasons and our current uniforms just finished season 7 i believe. i want a fresh start to the mchale/post yao & t-mac era. let's make it happen
Check out the Saturn V rocket, it has a decidedly less Flash Gordon/Sexual Aid shape to it. Oh and the logo without the yellow looks much better. Next, maybe get rid of the silly half lowercase scheme and just do all caps (or all lowercase). If you really feel you need a touch of yellow, maybe the flames from the rocket.
I think the problem with the gray rocketships or skyline is they don't read at a distance over the gray basketball lines so overall it appears muddy. If you want to work the yellow in you might try doing the rocketship in yellow so it stands out more.
not sure if this has ever been linked on CF before, but this guy (a designer) is supposedly going through and re-designing all of the NBA team logos, just for kicks. he hasnt done the rockets yet, but I thought some of yall might find this interesting...... http://www.michael-weinstein.com/2010/11/nba-team-logo-redesigns/
Nice. I really like the Golden State logo. The "shield" element of it is very appropriate. I'm not sure about the others...while they look nice, I question how a couple of them tie in to the team name. For example, the Kings logo has a big cat on top of it, which would only make sense if it were a male lion (the "king" of the jungle), which it clearly isn't. Also not sure how I feel about the "I" being smaller than the other letters. Definitely curious to see what he comes up with for the Rockets.
I tried making another set of logos. But I just can't get the right feel for it. Logos just aren't my thing I guess. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
yeah i thought they were 'fun' and interesting. hope he eventually gets around to a rockets one, just because id be curious to see it. not like any of these would ever be used by their respective clubs, but its cool to see what his imagination comes up with. i liked the golden state one as well.
agreed, the Wizards is a very cool design. maybe someone can email this dude and ask him to do Rockets next, and show him this thread... someone other than me...
I like our current color scheme, I just think we should go back to wearing jerseys and not the current designer space suits.
I can't even play as the Rockets in nba2k anymore. I cringe looking at the jerseys, the logo...everything. I'd much rather have this guys concept: http://boards.sportslogos.net/index.php?showtopic=68244&st=40 or http://boards.sportslogos.net/index.php?showtopic=79557&st=0 I'm a huge fan of retro style. Of course i would be extremely happy if we just wen't back to our Clutch City logo and jerseys. But, something tells me if we are changing, it will be something very different. Les wan'ts the next "classic" uniform that will always sell and never get old, he won 2 championships in them b4 changing. Priority number 1 for me is identity. Move on from the Yao and TMac era. Enter into Clutch City 2.0 I change everything from court, to logo to jerseys to arena music: "Capella - U Got 2 Know" anyone? Clear his mind must be, if we are to have good uniforms and logos in the future. 5.. 4... 3... 2... 1... <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W0Q1cFhRJY4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The problem with the Rockets is that we changed our logo in the first place. A good logo is timeless, yet the last two logos became dated after only 5 years. Maybe next time we will not make a design choice around a draft pick...
People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and we can't do that as Chinese, Toyota Spacemen Take out Boxes. As spacemen, were flesh and blood. We can be ignored, we can be destroyed, but as a symbol ...as a symbol we can be incorruptible, we can be everlasting.
I got bored, so I came up with this: I like to keep things simple, so all I did was switch things around on the old logo.
They all look too retro. While I understand that is the style now I would like to see something that is more modern and not following the trend.
