WOW. I've only gotten through 4 minutes of that before I can't help myself from commenting. WOWOWOW. More in depth impressions after I finish. EDIT: Okay, finally got through it. Detailed analysis: Spoiler WOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOWOOW
Yeah, that could work too, but AFAIK, not really implemented. Remote Play (and some similar things) are actually working today, so I was going with those examples. With Vita, it definitely would make more sense to turn over some of that processing to the handheld, since the Vita would be much more powerful than the PSP. Could solve some networking issues among other things. Though you'd have to go back to another implementation with PS4 (mirroring PS3-PSP today I suppose). Doesn't really bother me. Maybe some disappointment since I thought developers already had these games up and running, but that's not a big deal. Though I wonder if that means some games might not really end up on the Wii U (e.g., does showing BF3 mean BF3 will be on the Wii U, or only show that EA is willing to support Wii U with the BF series?). What was probably worse is the FRAPS ad/watermark thing that was on Ghost Recon I think. Ubisoft doesn't even pay for the full version of FRAPS when putting together major PR videos. I will say, this does make some of the "this looks better/worse than the PS3/360" comments seem pretty funny.
Probably both, eventually anyway. Nearly sold on Vita, but want to see more, including games (slim pickens so far...but did I see a Ridge Racer announced?). Though not sure if I'll get one at launch even then. Too early to tell with Wii U, but for the right price and everything, could be good. I've been wanting to play some Wii games (other than the ones I play at my parents' house), so maybe that could be a factor too (though I wish it upsclaed games). Actually, that plays a part with Vita too (I've been buying games on PSN just in case), though I really wish there was a way to play UMD games somehow. I really need to worry about my backlog before thinking about that though.
Vita is a bargain. I would have paid $400 for it (amazing specs for a portable, which poops on the 3D DS), and this is not including the g3 addon. I'm a very happy camper.
Nintendo Admits It Used Footage From Other Systems To Show Off Capabilities Of Wii U http://consumerist.com/2011/06/nint...ystems-to-show-off-capabilities-of-wii-u.html
I probably won't buy any of them, but out of all of them the most likely to end up next to my TV is the Wii U. Of course that's pending terrible reviews. You have to hand it to Nintendo for trying something new and risking success.
Yep, that's why I think Nintendo will end up being king. If you have enough smart people taking risks, one of them is bound to succeed in a big way (provided you have enough resources and support to withstand the failures).
What's funny to me is that Nintendo's remote reminds me a lot of how you can use the PSP with the PS3. Sony seems to have all these cool things you can do, but not know how to exploit them. Same thing with EyeToy before Kinect.
Should be, but the US PSN branch seems to be pretty incompetent. It is up in the European store I think. US division just hasn't updated or something. Think they're even late with E3 stuff. Maybe I just am doing some selective reading, but I feel a bit of deja vu reading some comments regarding Vita and 3DS. Lots of "Vita destroys 3DS" comments, even in some mainstream articles. Almost seems like PSP/DS all over again. I do think Sony is getting a lot right with the Vita (including fixing some mistakes in their thought process that ended up hurting the PSP), and Nintendo probably could be doing some better things with the 3DS. But yeah...it it way too early to go that far. Just stating the obvious I think, but just thought that was a bit funny. On another note, it almost seems like Square-Enix realizes what they did wrong with FFXIII, and actually cares about the fact that gamers weren't very happy with the release (even though it sold millions of copies...most publishers would just say, "Hey it sold millions, so we're doing good, screw what those guys said."). Almost makes me think about giving FFXIII-2 a shot...almost.
I stopped taking Nintendo seriously after that garbage Wii they released last time. Maybe I'll be able to take them seriously again... nope. In other news. Skyrim looks AMAZING. The only thing I didn't like about Bethesda's games were the lack of outstanding graphics. They have addressed that.
Not just graphics (Bethesda games actually are pretty decent graphically on release), but animation. They really have come a long way with Skyrim. 3rd person view actually looks quite playable. Of course, I'm hoping I can get it to look a lot better on PC (either with mods or just with whatever extras they throw in...but probably going to have to rely on mods). As good as it looks, Witcher 2 has spoiled me when it comes to graphics.
I still hate the fact that the collision system sucks balls; but that's a minor price to pay for 300+ hours of gameplay. Oh yeah dude. There are some people out there that have a lot of time to waste and replace all textures in the game (which I'm going to assume that Bethesda uses low-resolution textures) with extremely large textures that just make everything look sharp and crisp. Witcher 2 is like one of those games I want to like; but I can't get past the fact that I think it'll be a huge flop like Crysis. Out-of-this-world graphics, but crappy game.
Personally, I think it was awesome, and far from crappy. If anything, playing it makes other games seem crappy. Any chance of me playing Dragon Age 2 went out the window once I played Witcher 2. It also makes my food taste better, and cut my energy bill in half. It is that damn good.
Don't know if the new Battlefield 3 video was posted, but umm WOW... No game even comes close to these graphics. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9UwOrl036_A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Already posted, but deserves a re-post. Comparing this to the OTHER FPS on the market is really night and day. With the reception it is getting at e3, multiple Best Game of Show nominations, I can really see it out selling MW3, believe it or not.
