Length of contract. Sixers save serious cash. The Clippers would have a crazy athletic frontcourt -- Jordan (assuming he's resigned), Griffin and Iguodala.
I wonder if the Rockets can (and want to) get into the Iguodala sweeps by offering an mix of $ savings, young/cheap guys (Lee, Budinger, Willaims, Thabeet and/or Hill), and draft picks. He fits a need but has a hefty contract and isn't really a superstar (though he is no doube an elite defender).
This is a good deal for the Sixers as well. They have a glut of combo/undersized/tweener guards and the last thing they need is Monta Ellis. Good centers are a premium in this league.
The only good thing I can see with this deal is it could possibly make Speights or Hawes available for the right price. I had read somewhere that the Rockets were interested in Speights this previous trade deadline. Speights obviously has more upside but either would be an upgrade. I think Hawes would fit in on the high post in Adelman's offense.
Trading for him now or once he's in LA? Both? I think LA still needs some shooting. I think Iggy is a mistake for them. Too much money for a temporary band-aid that won't really put them over the top. They should try to get budinger + pick(s?) for iggy, suck another year, and hope to add another lottery pick next draft. Then trade Jordan, 2011 lotto pick, 2012 lotto pick, rockets pick, to Orlando for Dwight. Or something like that, i think they have Minny's pick this year or next.. I think that's their best shot at getting a superstar, otherwise they're just going to be the Rockets, with less hustle, for years.
LA starts Mo Williams and Eric Gordon. They are both excellent shooters. Iggy is a perfect fit because athletic swingmen give the Clippers fits.
Speights is another undersized big man trying to play the 5 when he should be playing the 4 full time. I'd rather give those valuable minutes to Patterson and let him develop. Hawes has good size but he plays smaller than he is and he's soft. He's like the younger poor man's version of Brad Miller. I don't see either of these guys solving our needs even if they came at a decent price.
Hey, we're talking about my Clippers here. Playoffs? Baby steps, my man. Mo+Gordon at the guards is an above-average shooting tandem, at least. The main problem is that both of those guys get injured a lot and the Clippers don't really have a bench.
Yeah, they dont really need Ellis as they already have Lou Williams. But then again a front court of Brand and Kaman doesnt look so good anymore like it did 4-5 years ago. I would like to see them get some younger in return for Iggy then maybe resign Dalembert as well..
looks like the sixers are determined to sell iggy. have you seen his contract? i'm not buying at that price. he's a really nice player, but he's overpaid.
