Jordan was better than Clyde. However, I hope you aren't implying that Clyde was way below Jordan as an overall player. Not the case. Drexler led two teams out of the West to the NBA Finals with Portland. He was clearly the 2nd best 2 in the league. How's he compared to Wade? it's a tough call. they are both great slashers.
Wades overall athleticism is beyond Drexler's capability. I think Jordan might be in trouble if you take 29 year old Jordan vs 29 year Wade in a 1 on 1 game. Wade got 20lbs on Jordan and probably a higher standing reach due to his freakishly long arms. It would be interesting.
Good points. Can't argue the west was tougher that year. But I don't think that Kobe could have gotten past the Pistons. The suns weren't head and shoulders about the pistons if at all. And Kobe could mange only to win one game from them. Aside from that, Lebron won 12 games to Kobe's 1 that year. The other point I want to make is that it is generally assumed to win a championship you need at least 2 stars, and a core of solid role players. Kobe has had that and he's won. When he hasn't had that he hasn't done much. Others, I argue, have. Lebron for one. Hakeem. Patrick, as I said before. Also, Wade. The year after Shaq left had Marion, Haslem, Beasley, Chalmers and Jermaine Oneal. This core was pretty good one, and they couldn't get out of the first round. Kobe, has never had a team of solid role players I suppose. Unless you wanna count this year. Maybe he could have done it, but Kobe just doesn't strike me as a guy willing to lay it out defensively which is necessary when you are playing with a core of role players.
Drexler is 6-7 and Wade is 6-4 <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OZ13fobOmuM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Really? Chalmers was a joke, JO was constantly hurt and Beasley was just a flat-out inconsistent rookie who couldn't get big minutes because he wasn't a good defender. That Miami team was terrible and the only reason they were in the playoffs was Wade. And spare me the "Kobe's never had help" lines. Pau Gasol/Bynum/Odom are all great players and he's had them for each of the last three years. That's more than ANY other superstar has had outside of Boston.
Wade's overall explosiveness > Drexler. There's just things I've seen with Wade that I did not see with Drexler and vice versa. I don't think Drexler could catch a lob above the top of the box and finish with traffic defenders sandwiching him, Wade does that.
I really think some of the comments here about Clyde are about his tenure with the Rockets, not the Blazers. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KP25Sw22hbE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
For the 4 games oneal played in the playoffs he was a factor. You don't understand what I was saying about Kobe so I wont comment. It is a separate conversation between me and jazz.
Wade has a quicker first step and better handles, but Drexler was a more explosive jumper (IMO 3rd all-time to VC & Nique, Griffin may pass them all!). Here's a good compilation of some of his dunks: <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qsk1dx-73VA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
i never said drexler was way below jordan, just never an equal. he was def the 2nd best 2 in the league. when it comes to wade vs drexler it's really hard to compare i'd wait till wade's carer is over imo
Those are Kobe's complete Playoffs stats, Kobe's Finals stats are slightly worse except for 2002: 1999-2000 15.6 4.6 4.2 2000-2001 24.6 7.8 5.8 2001-2002 26.8 5.8 5.3 Still not bad for a second option
you don't have to wait to know that Drexler is a superior nba analyst <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JJ1MTsLHjTk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Wade clearly can out do Drexler in that department. There's numerous footage of Wade finishing in traffic two handed where he catches the lob from above the top of the box. If Drexler had a decent GNC to get products from and modern trainer and equipment maybe he can do what Wade does today. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BSUAH6ju1F8?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BSUAH6ju1F8?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>
Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think the Drexler highlights are better than the Wade ones.. in half of them he's dunking over 7-footers and that last clip is absolutely ridiculous (it's basically a FT line dunk in a game). What makes Wade's dunks impressive to me is more the explosive first step where he blows by the defenders, but I don't think the finishes are as good. For the record, I think Wade is a superior talent.
