clippy is rather annoying. the hate is plain stupid. As of right now. Clearly, Kobe is ahead of Wade. When it's all said and done? Who knows.
I think Clippy is pretty funny. Trying to argue that the cast Gasol had around him was worse than Kobe's cast of Odom plus D-Leaguers (lets call a spade a spade, I think pretty much all of those guys are out of the NBA cept Sasha/Cook/Turiaf) was just priceless.
The Raptors lost by an average of 3 pts per game that year. Also, how many of these so called teams blowing out the Raptors had a player with 53 points after three quarters?
toronto had the 2nd worst defensive rating, 2nd worst opponent ppg, and worst opponent field goal percentage with opponents shooting .491% on average that year
I get that you are trying to defend Clyde but seriously it is still a slight to put Kobe head and shoulders ahead of him and wade. Kobe and Shaq together would have been like putting Hakeem and Clyde together when they were young. Are you seriously going to say that if Hakeem and Clyde had been together at the same point in their careers as Kobe and Shaq were, is there any doubt that Clyde and Dream would have run off 3, 4 straight championships? Kobe is a product of great talent around him. Lebron Hakeem Clyde Ewing All of these guys took teams with less talent to the finals. Call me when Kobe or Wade does it. You put wade on any of those portland teams or cleveland teams they'd be lucky to get out of the first round.
Why are you using the 81 game as an example of Kobe > Wade? It was one game! Is Tony Delk an all time great because he scored 50 once? You have to look at their body of work. Wade's career regular season numbers are better than Kobe's. Wade's career playoff numbers are better than Kobe's. Wade's career Finals numbers are much, much better than Kobe's. When they've had crappy teams, they've both had poor results (missed playoffs or first round exits). When they've had good teams, they've won titles (this year pending... if Miami loses Wade will take a hit). Kobe has better team success because he's had better teams. This is undeniable. Is this really that hard to understand? I can get people rating Kobe over Wade, but going the other way isn't some huge logical falacy.
sorry to say this, but thats just r****ded. Kobe scored 81 on the raptors... on the regular season. Mj scored 63 on the playoffs, against one of the best teams on nba history. So i dont agree with you. I still think kobe perfomance was way better than chamberlains 100, but not as good as mj 63.
what a ridiculous statement by a typical hater. the raptors is still a nba team with bosh on their team. its not like kobe was padding his stats. he needed all 81 points to BEAT the raptors. the game was very close until the last few minutes or so. oh, a few months earlier. kobe outscored dallas 62-61 in 3 quarters by himself. he stopped playing after that.
when did i say that somebody else could score 81? you act like i'm sayin kobe games was overrated. i said that that raptors team was terrible defensively and it was the truth backed by stats. the best scorer in the league at that time met one of the worst defenses of all time and that's what happened. just telling it like it is.
i give kobe his props by scoring 70 up till those last 5 minutes but the raptors, gave up, put in reserves at that time and kobe was just waving off teammates to pad his stats. a that same time wilt added his stats at the end of his 100 point game as well which is why i sill put kobe's 81 point game over wilts.
We meet again. My 81 point argument has nothing to do with Wade vs. Kobe it is just me saying that it is an amazing accomplishment to show how great of a player Kobe is. I actually think the Wade/Kobe comparison isn't that ridiculous and while I disagree about Wade being better I'm not outraged at someone that would take Wade over him. So thank you for attacking an argument I wasn't even trying to make.
I don't think anyone is arguing that Kobe isn't a great scorer. He's one of the NBA's all-time great scorers. The 81 is one example. The 62 in three quarters ia a better one. The nine straight 40+ point games is the best example. Kobe's MO is as a streaky volume shooter with unlimited range, and when a guy like that (AI being another one) gets going, he can put up historic numbers. However, when rating him, it's better to look at his body of work since that factors in poor performances too; it also shows the all-around game (which is OK, but really not up there with the best all-time greats).
I really don't get how me factoring in the extra 10 minutes Jordan played is r****ded. Kobe had 81 points in four quarters and Jordan had 55 points in four quarters.
Agree. Kobes best trait is that he is a great scorer. It takes some skills to be good even if you're going to shoot a lot though, ex: antoine walker is garbage. jordan was a volume shooter too. His other skills are good, but not quite close to what jordan had. But comparing to wade, whose best trait is scoring, kobe is better. Wade still has a few years left so maybe he can surpass kobe. wade is not that great of a defender. him getting a lot of steals does not mean he is good, it also means he gambles a lot on defense. and we saw on many occasions that it has backfired on his team. i give credits on his blocks though.
